Snalland for Delegate

Hey all, Snall here. Coming at you live from my lunch break. Today, I’m announcing my candidacy for World Assembly Delegate of the region of Aesica. I’m not going to play the hungry underdog this election, although I think I’d be merited in doing so. Instead I’m going to offer a new way to look at the executive as a whole. I have a few ways to do this.

Minister Policy: First step in revamping the executive branch is to completely rework the Foreign Affairs Ministry. I currently think that the Foreign Affairs Ministry is fine as is, but I also realize: I’m not a native. I can not plan a future for our foreign affairs without having thorough consultation from the natives of Aesica. In order to achieve this, I will be seeking to hire my FA Minister through a thorough application process.

The second step in revamping the executive branch is to create a Ministry of Recruitment independent of the Domestic Affairs Ministry. Our desire for new members should be so great that it requires its own minister to keep us on course. Its responsibilities will be to provide the public with monthly recruitment updates, keeping track of how many telegrams have been sent manually and how many recruits they generated. It will also spearhead new recruiting initiatives for the recruitment branch.

The third step in revamping the executive branch is increasing the workload of the Culture Ministry. I believe that the Culture Ministry is the most important ministry that we have. I believe that it has also been underutilized. I want to see regular events and game nights for our Discord folks, and I want to see more engagement from the government on the RMB side.

Foreign Policy: Foreign Affairs currently is, and should remain, a ministry led by committee. The FA Minister and Delegate are beholden to the Foreign Affairs Council, and they should remain to be. I will, of course, take my FA Minister’s advice the closest. Additionally, I believe that the current requirements for an Aesican embassy are too low. The very first thing that should be done in this ministry is amending those requirements.

Domestic Policy: As stated, I will be splitting the primary functions of the current Domestic Affairs Ministry into two separate ministries. MiniRec will handle recruitment, and the DAM will handle all other tasks of the current department. Our dispatches were actually recently revamped by DAM Solyv and WAD Alesina, so that will not be a priority in this term. Maintaining and frequently updating these dispatches is a must, however.

Culture Policy: We need to be doing more. Oesterlund has done great with minimal direction, but I think there should’ve been, and therefore will be under my Delegacy, more guidance from the Delegate on Cultural goals. I want to get more people involved in the Culture Ministry, to ease the burden of the Minister themself, and to make the Minister more of an administrator.

Communications Policy: The current Comms Ministry is actually working really well. I believe that with further guidance and harder deadlines from the Delegate, it will continue to work really well. I also think that more communication from the Delegate, beyond the monthly update in the Gazette, would be for the best.

Experience: I am going to be so for real right now, I do not think I did a good job in my two terms as Senator. I think I was actually awful. I was late to too many votes, and I think I might’ve missed a couple too. The fact I’m not sure shows that my legislative experience is not relevant here. What I am proud of, however, is my time in this and other regions’ executive branches. I have direct experience in running, or assisting in running, every Ministry we currently have in Aesica. I personally believed I performed competently in all those positions. I have experience here in Aesica’s executive branch as well, as I am the sitting Foreign Affairs Minister. I am regularly consulted by WAD Alesina on things concerning the region, which I am not allowed to go into more detail regarding. More than that though, I’ve got experience with catastrophic failure, I know when and where things can fail, and I know how to get rid of systems that do not benefit the region, or add things that will.
