Cartography Council Election - September 2026
Greetings Valsorans,
The Valsoran Cartography Council is due to hold a special election this September, filling the vacancy left by Chineseasia. This election will be held over the span of two weeks. The first week will be the nomination period, followed by a week-long voting period. Please see the relevant dates and information below. The Nomination Period:
The nomination period will last a week, from the 9th of September to the 15th of September. During this time, candidates may be nominated by their peers, or they may self-nominate to run for the position of Cartographer. If nominated by a peer, the candidate must accept their nomination publicly on the RMB before officially becoming a nominee. Registered nominees will be added to the roster, and may present a campaign dispatch for public viewing if they choose. Candidates are encouraged to display previous experience with cartography, and knowledge of Paint.NET - the program the cartography council primarily utilises. These are not mandatory, but are heavily preferred and will be crucial for a candidate's success should they emerge victorious.
Only nations currently present on Valsora may nominate a candidate, only nations currently present on Valsora may be nominated. All nominations and nominees will be checked to ensure this is true before being added to the candidate list. All nominations and acceptances must be made publicly on the regional message board, nominations in any other form will not be recognised. Please ensure you ping 
Valsora when making and accepting any nomination. If you are quoting a nomination or acceptance, please remove the ping.
The Voting Period:
Once the nomination period closes on September 15th, the voting period will commence. During this period, all current members of Valsora will be eligible to vote for their preferred candidate. This means voters may cast their vote for one candidate, whom they will mark with an x. A formal ballot template is available below, and MUST be used for votes to be counted. This voting period ends on the 22nd of September.

It is CRUCIAL that you use the template provided, and that it is filled out correctly. If you do not do so, your vote will not be counted. Please ensure you list all nations you currently manage on Valsora, whether that be a solely-run nation or a shared one.
Votes are to be cast publicly on the regional message board from the nation who is casting the vote. Do not publish your vote from an alternate account, or it will not be recognised.
Votes must be cast using the template, as we will need to search the RMB for that template when counting votes. As you can imagine, we're not keen to search through hundreds of pages of chatter to track down every vote. Please ensure you ping Valsora when casting your vote, as this makes it easier for us to collect ballots.
There is to be no campaigning outside of campaign dispatches. Candidates shall not engage in tactics to pressure other members into voting for them, including but not limited to: DM’ing users to appeal for their vote, promoting their campaign on or offsite (outside of posting your campaign dispatch upon publishing), bribing members with IC benefits for their vote, or promising users favouritism if elected. Candidates found to be violating these rules may be disqualified at any time by the Cartography Council.
At the conclusion of the voting period, the candidate with the most votes will win. In the unlikely event of a tie, the voting period will restart, eliminating all but the two highest-polling candidates. In the super unlikely event of a tie involving three or more candidates, all highest-polling tied candidates will recontest the new voting period, and all other candidates will be eliminated. If outlandish circumstances occur wherein these guidelines cannot result in a sole victor, the election will be temporarily postponed and the cartography council will deliberate a new electoral system to break the deadlock.
