forum-side office.Overview: This resolution identifies locations of significant religious, cultural, or scientific concerns as establishable international issues, and sets forth infrastructure to find and fund such locations.
Analysis: Every nation has places of cultural significance, and it is important to these cultures that they are maintained and protected. This proposal creates an international board to document and support these locations, while, critically, placing the onus on nations to identify and maintain their own sites. The World Landmarks Oversight Board gives guidance—oversight, if you will—without intervention. If passed, nations maintain sole responsibility for the designation and upkeep of the places important to their unique cultures.
Therefore, we strongly encourage all World Assembly member states to Vote FOR.
