Eliminating Slavery and Trafficking of Persons
Voting Recommendation: FOR
Written by: Excidium Planetis

The proposal is fairly straightforward: It defines and then prohibits slavery, forced labor, and trafficking in member nations and requires some further action from member nations to repatriate trafficked persons.

These requirements are simple, and should be upheld in all member states dedicated to protecting vital civil rights. The resolution keeps its focus narrow, and wisely offers exclusions to the prohibition of forced labor to allow for such measures as conscription and forced labor to deal with dire emergency situations.

Moreover, the resolution does not impose its own clumsy policies on member nations, instead simply stating the requirements and allowing member states to enact those mandates as they may best.

Therefore, the office of Secretary Merethin recommends voting FOR.
