Executive Summary: As the name indicates, this proposal prohibits the enslavement of individuals. Period.

Opinion: OMG!!! A Secretariat member written proposal. OOOOH! Shiny. So excited. Let's see. This proposal plans to ban enslavement, in all forms, of individuals as well as trafficking. It starts with very clearly written definitions. They are clear, succinct, and to the point. And also note that enslavement is not only by persons, but makes it clear that "entities" owning persons is also enslavement. The second half has very clear rules about banning slavery, banning forced labor, and asking member states to sanction any nation in the multiverse that allows it. Seems really straightforward...and it is! My biggest concern is that this proposal allows forced labor in a consenting situation. If person has informed prior consent, they can still be an indentured servant. Which feels real uncomfy. Don't love that. However, as the individual consented to it in an informed manner, and assuming member states act in good faith (as they SHOULD if they abide by the first three proposals that have been pushed through the GA), then it's likely fine. I just don't love this. But, I'm not going to quibble about this too much and I still say we should all totes vote FOR this proposal so we get a slavery ban on the books.
