Telegram Templates: A Guide
A Telegram Template is a saved telegram that you can resend later without retyping or re-pasting the full message.Instead of rebuilding the same telegram over and over, you create it once, register it as a template, and then send copies by using a short code such as %TEMPLATE-123456%.
Why?
They provide you with Delivery Reports.
They are friendlier to the mail system.
They set the telegram's category, so you don't need to remember to tick the box for a recruitment or WA campaign telegrams.
How
Go to Telegrams and compose your telegram normally.
If it is a recruitment or campaign telegram, mark it correctly before sending.
In the To: field, enter tag:template.
Send the telegram.
NationStates will give you a template code in the form %TEMPLATE-123456%.
You can also find that code later in the template telegram's Delivery Reports.
To send a copy of a template
Compose a new telegram.
Put your recipient or recipients in the To: field as normal.
In the message body, paste only the template code, such as %TEMPLATE-123456%.
Send it.
Important: the message body should be just the template code by itself. Do not add extra text before or after it.
Example
To: Testlandia, Bigtopia, Reploid Productions
Message:
%TEMPLATE-123456%
That sends those nations a copy of the saved telegram attached to that template.
What carries over from the template?
The full message text, including formatting and links.
Its recruitment or campaign category.
Mass-TG macros such as %NATION% and %TOKEN%, if you used them in the original message.
Things to keep in mind
When you send a copy of a template, you don't need to mark it as recruitment or campaign again - the template already remembers that.
Only the nation that created the template can send it.
Templates do not bypass telegram rules, recipient filters, flood control, or stamp costs.
Telegram Templates vs API Templates
A normal Telegram Template is for manual reuse through the telegram page.
If you want to use scripts or automate delivery, that's a different feature: an API Template, created with tag:api. Automated telegram sending must use the API.
