A couple of facts from the history of the Apatheist society

Once upon a time there was a vast, sparsely populated empire. It lagged behind its neighbors in development, and after 100 years of collapse and two civil wars, it ceased to exist. People fled from those lands, others destroyed each other, and those left behind learned to live without an emperor or deity.
Nevertheless, it was the blood and prayers of the fallen in the bloodbath that first produced divinity in that land. It drove the survivors to cluster together in an anarchic semblance of state, and invisibly guided society, impressing the minds of each of its leaders.
The flag of these lands was the vanishing symbol of empire on a yellow traditional tablecloth of plenty in the middle of a field of streaks of red blood and white snow.
