City-State Era
Arrival of the Refugees (14th Century)

The Yuan Dynasty recently initiated a political and societal purge as per orders from their Mongol overlords as the tithe for grain and fish was not reached at a sufficient period and amount. This caused a mass panic and mass exodus outside of China during that time yet the Mongol Empire patrolled the borderlands of their puppet state. Many refugees went to the sea to take refuge, many of them ending up in Japan, the Philippines, Formosa and many places across Southeast Asia, spreading its influence further by accident. A Massive refugee/fisher fleet exited the Nanjing port and went Northwest towards Japan but due to the stormy conditions of an undocumented typhoon, the fleet was forced to sail southwest without realizing where they were going. They would end up island hopping across the Pacific under the false pretense that they are near Japan and would end up trading with the natives. Their lack of collective leadership and natural disasters caused the fleet to dwindle as time went on until the last 15 ships arrived upon the shore of South America where over 200 people settled and would call it their home.

A Small settlement would form mostly refugees and fishermen that were strung along and the relationship between the unknown foreigners and the natives was tense but would ease off later. Another fleet of refugees and settlers composed of 12 ships would arrive a year later as the conditions of the mainland hasn't subsided and rumors of a hidden paradise to the south started to emerge. With conflicting records and romanticized stories of this period, it is unknown who came up with the name of "Nantian" and/or who were the leaders of early Tsone, but many scholars have concluded that they practice a primitive form of direct democracy during the initial stages of the settlement. Trade with the natives became more substantial, bringing rare goods such as Jade and Porcelein for large amounts of grain and/or other soures of food. This mutual beneficial relationship would not last long as with the Incan Empire on the horizon.

Tsonese City-State (14th - 16th Century)

As the Incan empire's influence grew the possibility of the refugees surviving till the end of the century became slimmer. Historians argue that the beginning of the Piracy and Mercenery age began when the Chimor Kingdom south of the Tsonese territory hired chinese foot soldiers in their wars against other neighboring kingdoms such as the Aymara Kingdoms and other native tribes or polities. It was a rogue state at this point with a central township located at the Punsa Bay (OTL: Ecuador's Capital City). This participation within the wars of other Incan kingdoms designated the refugees as a hostile state for many of the other kingdoms and raids from other states would become frequent but easily pushed back due to the technological superiority of the Chinese refugees, even despite of their lack of proper industry. By 1352, the Tsonese population has reached 12,500 a combination of chinese refugees, incan refugees and even immigrants and/or natives wanting to live within the walls of the foreign town became more desirable.

The Kingdom of Cusco has becoming increasingly threatened by the growing city-state of refugees, of which it still did not have a name by the Incans, scholars claim that this is where the exact point in time where the Exonym of "Tsone" (所以) was born, with Yahuar Huacac the Seventh Sapa of the Kingdom of Cusco declaring that the City-state of "Tsone" harbored by foreigners from a distant land was a possible threat to their massive kingdom. The flow of trade and resources between the two kingdom was bountiful and beneficial for both and Yahuar was worried that increasing hostilities and tensions would only bring ruin for both of them, even if Tsone is a smaller state.

In 1405, a blood pact was enacted between the current representative head of Tsone, Dai-Sen Long (戴森龙) and the Yahuar Huacac and later then in 1410, another blood pact of the same representative head of Tsone and the Eight Sapa of the Kingdom of Cusco, Viracocha. It is said that with each blood pact done by both, a celebration of both political entities and leaders would last for a week and half and massive "sexual feasts" would occur every night between the nobles, merchants and even the normal populace of both kingdoms. Historians claim that homosexual acts we're also present but this has never been confirmed and was only a recent theory in academia.

Incan Vassal (16th Century)

When the proclamation and creation of the Incan Empire was declared, Tsone had a representative that was sent in order to observe the political situation within the Kingdom of Cusco with the new Sapa known as Pachacuti. It was reported later that the envoy and representatives sent by Tsone were beaten to death and survivors were hunted down and burnt as an offering to their sun god. The militaristic and unexpected actions of the new Sapa caused Tsone to increase its defensive capability and cut all trade with the new Incan Empire which soured relations even further. An alliance with the larger Chimor Kingdom allowed Tsone to be confident in the strength of both forces combined as the Chimor Kingdom was also threatened by the new Sapa of the Incan Empire. The Population in Tsone would have reached to 100,000 in 1456 with the Natives making up 40% of the entire population while chinese refugees still come pouring.

When the Chimor-Incan war ignited, the Tsone city-state bolstered its defenses while allowing a contingent of foot-soldiers to support the Chimoran troops against the Incan Empire. Chimoran troops have received special training from Tsonese advisors while also training Tsonese foot-soldiers on how to navigate the jungle, tracking and guerilla warfare. Even with the advanced technology brought by the Chinese refugees with their Firelances and prototype firearms, the sheer massive scale of the Incan Army still allowed an Incan victory to happen. The Last Chinese refugee fleet carrying 2,000 citizens would happen in 1472 and the end of the Chimoran-Incan conflict in 1485.The Kingdom of Chimor would cease to exist with Tsone left alone to defend itself while bolstering even further its defenses with the remnants of the Chimoran army.

The Siege of Nantian would begin as the entire walled city-state would be surrounded by the Incan armies, even lead by the Tupac Yupanqui himself. This siege would last for another 5 years until the Tsone City-State is forced to surrender with the lack of resources and lack of manpower to defend the massive walled city. During this entire 5-year campaign, the wall was never breached. The old city of Nantian, now known as Old Nantian contemporarily was burnt and razed to the ground with the population forced to fleet northward. Remnants of the government and noble families would be incorporated into the Incan empire as well but the knowledge of the advanced technologies such as firearms never got to the hands of the Incan empire due to the scorched earth policy as agreed upon by the nobles within Tsone after realizing the rather technological inferiority of the natives within the continent.

New Nantian which is now simply just called Nantian contemporarily became the new capital city of Tsone and survivors and remnants of the government proceeded to rebuild there while fending off raids from Incan detachments. This sudden attack on Tsone and subsequent Siege required Tsone to be stronger militarily and politically, establishing a dynasty system similar to that of Mainland China. The ruling person would unfortunately be an Incan puppet and imposed astronomical taxes on the citizens and even higher taxes on former citizens of vanquished states. Despite the amount of resources being given to the Incan Empire, the Incan empire would soon under go a civil war due to the intervention of the Spanish Empire and their Conquistadors. This would give enough time and preparation for the Puppet ruler to initiate an invasion of the Incan Empire to retake their former lands and expand further North and south to ensure the survival of Tsone.

The Spanish would come contact with the Tsone residents and would be startled of the presence of oriental peoples in South America fearing that a Chinese colonization campaign has begun without them noticing. The Spanish empire would have a rather delicate relationship with the newly formed Xue Dynasty that is within their doorsteps.

Dynastic Era
Three Dynasties Period (16th Century - 19th Century)

Xue Dynasty - 薛朝

The Xue Dynasty ( 薛朝 ) was the first Dynasty to rule over the Tsone nation, for outsiders they we're known as Tsone-Xue and subsequently putting the name of the ruling dynasty after the name of Tsone. The Xue Dynasty enjoyed being the hub of trade for oriental goods for the Spanish colonies north and west of them. An agriculture boom was recorded within Xue Dynasty as typical goods traded by Europeans with the Mainland Chinese finally arrive within the farmlands of Tsone while also trading for Corn, Chocolate. The Xue Dynasty would later form a unique cuisine and agricultural tradition with the New World items that they learned to cultivate and soon enough, master. Around this time, the Xue Dynasty would come into contact with Patagonia-Araucania around the dates of 1565 and 1575 with merchants and tradesmen forming a sort of business bond and contract that allowed them to gain profit by being the only source of Oriental goods just as the original Patagonian settlers plan was. The location of Patagonia-Araucania allowed other merchants to supply them with supplies, crops and sometimes other "oriental" goods in exchange for western goods.

Hu Dynasty - 胡朝

This peace wouldn't last long as in 1598, the Xue Dynasty would collapse into a five-front civil war with one of the dynasties having the support of the Spanish. The Xue Civil War would reach its conclusion in 1607 with the Hu Dynasty ( 胡朝 ) a mercantilist clan that had a strict authoritarian policy regarding trade. This civil war was just like any other Chinese civil war, a war of succession. The Hu Dynasty would later corner the market in narcotics very early on when the Coca Plant was discovered including its psychotropic and psychogenic effects. The Hu Dynasty had a strong trade policy, with an emphasis on how oriental products are better than western products or even local native ones. It began strongarming the trade within the Spanish colonies including the Venician colony of Patagonia itself, attempting to introduce the product into Europe. This strategy failed and would later spark the First Grenada War that lasted from 1623 to 1625 with a decisive Spanish victory. The Treaty of Santafe Bogota would force the Hu Dynasty to cede large portions of their northern territory (OTL Columbia) and force a trade ban on the Coca Plant and even usage within the Hu Dynasty. Several thousand acres of Coca Plantations would be burnt and several families would be executed for refusing to adhere to the new laws.

The Hu Dynasty would enjoy relative peace but the support for a second war against the "white devils" was high. The Hu Dynasty saw that another war with the Spanish colonies would be detrimental to not only the ruling dynasty but also the administration and economy at large. Considering the exportation of Coca Plant as well as the development and propagation of it has been banned, most landowners and farm owners attempt to seek a new crop to grow and/or attempt to devolve back into their original product. The Hu Dynasty would give somewhat generous concessions to the larger families in order to revitalize the agricultural economy of the dynasty whilst others seek more artistic, practical, and even sometimes experimental works of art. Jewelry, porcelain and "Nantianese Jade" would start to be exported and advertised as the "original" rather than the "Chinese" products with no backing, but because of the exotic nature and location of Tsone-Hu many would fell for these advertising schemes. The Second Grenada War of 1698 to 1703 would erupt over the pettiest reason, farmers of both sides territorial dispute and the killing of 4 cows. This war would be known as the Bovine War as the supply of cattle of both sides were brutally killed and/or stolen. The war wouldn't erupt as it did the first time as only skirmishes and occasional clashes of military and militia would occur. The Bovine War would surprisingly end with a Tsonese victory due to how many cows they stole, otherwise it would have been a stalemate as an informal peace was settled between two generals of both sides.

During the Hu Dynasty, a cultural revolution would occur, comparable to that of the European Rennaissance as much as many classical works of literature, novels, and even songs would be created during this time period even during the presence of war which only invigorated many poets and artists throughout the era. A Popular form of literature known as "Backtracking" would be considered a controversial form of literature that is still popular even today in contemporary Tsone of which would be Criticizing and analyzing the faults and mistakes of China and their dynasties and governments and comparing it to Tsone, the better half of it. The Largest and longest Tsonese Epic known as "Jade and the Millenium of Sorrow" [翡翠与悲伤的千年] would be written by a multitude of authors, it would also be considered the longest piece of collaborative literature in the world at that time.

In 1718 a Japanese boat full of exiled politicians and nobles would arrive at Tsonese doorstep, the Tsonese people accepted them with grace and hospitality but would also worry the nobles and other high-ranking officials fearing the worst, that the Japanese have finally capitulated to the Mongols. This would not be the case at all as simply that the Japanese government has changed drastically over the last century and that Japan was a closed country. They were offered a place to stay within the other provinces of Tsonese in order to allow them to practice their culture and traditions in order to not cause a conflict between the two peoples within the country.

Tsonese citizens especially nobles would view the Japanese as untrustworthy during the period due to their sudden arrival fearing a Japanese invasion. Such a thing wouldn't occur and the Japanese and Tsonese would have a tense yet surprisingly amicable relationship, only a cultural rivalry exists today with a fringe group of ultranationalists wanting their deportation. The Japanese citizens would take up a new mantle and a new name for themselves, 空の者 Sora no mono, or Sky people [ 天空人, Tiankong ren ] due to their province of choice being in the Andes mountains. They would culturally influence the surrounding provinces and would form a blend of cultures because of it. Currently, Nantianese Shintoism is exclusively practiced near the mountainous provinces due to the influence of the Japanese ancestors.

1759 was the date that marked the assassination of a massive amount of nobles, craftsmen, and merchants within the capital city. Fearing another incident like this, the Hu Dynasty would impose martial law on its citizens, the current Lord-Emminence of the Hu Dynasty, Hu Song Sijin ( 胡子衿 ) was known to be a cruel tyrant even before the imposing of the Martial Law but the declaration of this meant his action had weight and no one, not even his family members would survive his bloody rule. European traders and neighbors alike would have their merchants. envoys and citizens are butchered if they do not agree on paying a tax and search for contraband within their ships which would strain the relationship across the entire continent due to the barbaric nature of Son Sijin. Song Sijin would also personally visit Japanese villages and burn them to the ground due to hatred for foreigners brought by his upbringing surrounded by xenophobic nobles.

Empress Yuxin, Known for her breaking of
gender norms during her time
Xiong Dynasty - 熊朝

By 1782 the populace would rise up and revolt across the nation with support from Spanish and Patagonian supplies and arms as the High Palace would be raided and razed with Song Sijin being impaled and displayed on the gates of the High Palace. The anarchy wouldn't resolve itself until 1790 with the Regency acting as the head of state due to the absence of a leader on the throne. Xiong Yuxin, the first empress and Mother of Tsone ( 熊语心 ) would take the throne by force by eliminating the regency, for the first time in history, a woman would be the one to lead Tsone as a whole. Many nobles and detractors would view this as the fall of Tsonese culture yet it instead allowed the continuation of the classical cultural revolution during the Hu Dynasty. Yuxin's reign is would see the end of the cultural revolution shortly after despite the promise of continuation and would become the standard of Tsonese culture as a whole. Her title of Mother of Tsone would be due to the massive amount of reformations and changes to the society of Tsone as a whole.

The caste system would be abolished during her reign, the judicial system westernized and more rational than before with judges being appointed by her personally, despite it being a personal appointment the Empress would look upon the credibility, history, and dependability of the judges rather than their connection with nobles and high-profile peoples. Slavery and the Corvee system would finally be abolished and the first primitive form of democracy would be instilled, allowing villages and townships to elect their own sheriff and lord-protectors rather than the government. This democratic reformation would soon become the framework and basis of the federal system of Tsone that is being used contemporarily. The Empress would also establish a constabulary-paramilitary force that would enforce the new laws, rules, and reformations that she has accomplished. This massive and extreme reformation of Tsone would meet an equal amount of pushback, considering the Empress did these series of reformations at the age of 23. The main argument against these reformations is that the Empress isn't experienced enough and that a Man should be in charge of the title of Emperor.

Her title of "Mother of Tsone" wasn't given out of respect, but a fact, as Mothers are benevolent to their children, discipline and punishment are also present. With the establishment of the Tsonese Righteous and Honourable Militia protests against these reformations would be put down easily and violently. Economic liberalization is also present but a sheer stance on protectionism would also be put in place, with an export focus market, The Empress would attempt to make locally made items cheaper for Tsonese citizens while foreign goods harder to get.

These reformations would spark the sentiment of republicanism, nationalism and even a primitive form of socialism within the social classes. Citizens would ask for more further reforms but the Empress wouldn't budge, saying that these reformations are simply stepping stones to a greater Tsone and she has no plans on removing the monarchial system any time soon. Empress Yuxin would further empower the police force to shut down republican meetings and other so called "enemies for a greater Tsone" as she believed that the process of change must be incremental and not radical, a hypocritical stance considering the amendments she has done to the laws and regulations of the dynasty. When the news of the independence of Patagonia-Araucania arrived The Empress bolstered its support the newly borne kingdom and would send gifts and envoys towards the reigning monarch.

A Peaceful protest would occur within the gates of the High Palace, seeing the amount of people wishing a true republic. On December 23, 1833, Empress Yuxin would step down the throne and would bow his head as a form of apology and repentance.
