The Asemblea Federal, the federal legislative assembly of Telaholoyan, is comprised of 444 different seats, each belonging to a specific political party. Every 5 years, elections are held that determine which parties get represented in the Asemblea Federal, and how many seats they will receive to represent them. Each federal state has a certain amount of seats that can be won, determined by the overall percentage of votes each party received in that state, rounded to the nearest seat percentage interval, with the being the percentage increase in votes required to gain an additional seat. In cases where additional seats remain untaken, but no party has enough votes to gain the extra seta or seats, the party with the highest vote percentage that has not received a seat will retain one of the extra seats, continuing until all seats are taken. This allows for very minor and local parties to he represented in the federal assembly.

Partido Unionista Federal
(Federal Unionist Party)

The PUF is the oldest non-defunct party of Telaholoyan. Effectively your standard run of the mill conservative party, they advocate for lower taxes and business deregulation as their main platform. One of their main talking points in recent years has been the Darién Rebellion in the Panama Condominium, which the PUF has openly advocated extreme violence to stomp out the rebels as an example to any would be “traitors”. This response has gotten them in hot water with and contested debates with other parties, primarily their archrival, the Partido Unidad Democrática (PUD). They currently hold 138 seats, neither losing or gaining any in the most recent legislative election. The current president, Domingo Marino Cuevas, is a member of the PUF.

Partido de Liberación de los Trabajadores
(Workers’ Liberation Party)

The Partido de Liberación de los Trabajadores (PLT) is the go-to communist party for Telaholoyani voters. Advocating for the complete dissolution of the Telaholoyani democracy, the want to install a dictatorship or the proletariat in order to reform the bourgeoisie and capitalist Telaholoyani society into a communist utopia one. Because of their “extreme goals,” the party has been suspended and banned numerous times, especially during the Cold War, which has prevented it from gaining any real traction. As a result, they have 3 seats, up from 0 in the last election, during which they were banned from participating in.

Partido por el Cambio y la Acción
(Party for Change and Action)

The PCA is considered a right-wing nationalist and populist party. Like the PUF, the seek to almost completely eliminate economic regulation, and decrease taxation and government spending as much as possible, leaving most of what would be federal authorities up to the states, so that the people can decide on political matters rather than a perceived elite that doesn’t care about the populous. While this approach makes them seem authentic to voters, they’re often slammed by other political parties for their hypocrisy, as they often change their policies and goals with the political winds. Despite this, they are the third largest party, carrying 95 out of 444 seats, though down from 98 in the previous election.

Partido Verde
(Green Party)

The Partido Verde, often called El Verde, is the environmentalist party of Telaholoyan. The party’s primary platform is the status of Telaholoyan’s large oil and natural gas corporations, which is seeks to specifically nationalize, so that they may control the amount being excavated, with the goal being to excavate only enough to sustain Telaholoyan, and no more. They also plan to expand the natural parks service that began to be rolled out in the 1990s, protecting natural landmarks from deforestation and pollution. They hold 21 seats, up from 15 in the previous election.

Partido Unidad Democrática
(Democratic Union Party)

Being the second oldest non-defunct party, the PUD is considered a centrist political party. They’re the second largest political party, just behind the PUF. Their economic goals are simply to maintain the current economic status quo, while on the topic of freedom, they advocate to expand the rights of the citizens, with their primary platform being currently supporting the expansion of LGBTQ rights, which is considered culturally significant due to a heavy stigma against them caused by the large and often devoted Catholic population. They also argue strongly for the expansion of the state funded education system, advocating for it to cover tertiary education. They hold 121 seats, down from 145 in the previous election, a massive loss.
