The Solidarity Party

The primary opposition party to the Liberal Party is the Solidarity Party. The Solidarity Party is popular among older residents as well as more working class New Luciannovans and especially socially conservative religious citizens (although almost all New Luciannovans are somewhat religious). The Solidarity Party is best viewed as a party of Christian Democracy and while it supports the capitalistic framework believes that the government has a proper role in helping people and promoting general public interest. The Solidarity Party has long been in favor of increased social welfare, universal basic income, increased direct religious influence in governmental affairs (some hardliners even supporting a theocracy), and regulating certain things further in the name of public decency such as gambling, prostitution, recreational drugs and alcohol, contraception, and pornography.
A current ongoing dispute in the Solidarity Party is the idea that it is a party of "Christian Democracy" and by Christian--the notion that it is Catholic is strongly implied. Many non-Catholics sit in the party, and often have their own "in-party" alliance, although some have defected to other aligned parties, notably "the People's Party" which has been a coalition of Mormons, Jews, Muslims, and those of other faiths who generally align with the Solidarity Party in principle, but not in label.
The Solidarity Party--as the main opposition party is usually aided by additional opposition parties, the Labor Party, the Populist Party, the Socialist Party, and the Progressive Party. The Centre Party is seen as an ally of the Solidarity Party, but its charter rejects fusionism, keeping it as a permanent crossbencher group.
The Solidarity Party has dealt with a dispute regarding fusionism with certain crossbench parties as well, including the Socialist Party, which is a far-left political party and the National Party, which has been considered a fascist party. Both are to the left of the Solidarity Party on economics, and support its belief in a more activist government, but are firmly secular.
The Agrarian-Green Party typically aligns with the Solidarity Party on economic issues, but rejects its social conservatism.
The Solidarity Party's usual leader is Katarina Renata Sella, a former teacher.
On the Political Compass the solidarity party is at 3, 6, and the Solidarity Party's color is Orange. A common symbol it employs is a pelican, sometimes also using a bowl of rice.
