The Descent into Anarchy

Rohyn was not always the land of true freedom that it is now. In a different time, it was a land ruled by tyrants and slave lords, but one fateful day, the broken people turned against their masters. Lives were lost in great numbers, but even with far superior firepower, a fraction of a population cannot hope to stave off an overwhelming majority hellbent on destroying them. After this, Rohyn was made a democracy, and for a while, this was stable enough to satisfy the newly freed people. Yet still, the politicians grew corrupt, the bureaucrats decadent, and in time, the system was yet again horribly broken. A revolution again followed, and this time the new state followed the ideas of Marx and Lenin, believing that if they followed the thoughts of the proprietors of the peoples' freedom, they could never be made slaves again. They were wrong. The vanguard party of the new socialist state quickly grew as self-indulgent as the political mess of the previous states, and the people revolted yet again. This time, they knew what they needed to do. Power corrupts, and there is no safe authority. As such, authority itself must be abolished. Now, Rohyn's government is a labyrinthine nightmare of red tape and councils, every aspect of every concept that we understand to be a necessary function of the state is argued over for days on end by anyone who cares to voice their opinion on it, and as a result, the people of Rohyn have the freedom to be free, but not much else.
