The Hyrulean Realm :: Princess-Sovereign of Hyrule, Zelda

So, please allow me to say some things, as reading forward and certain conditions aren't... Well, there, you will become truly annoyed. So basically, to start off with, the width that I work with for factbook creation is around 1098 pixels... Anything more than that, and anything less than that, we have some serious issues on our hands, as images will be placed wrong and text will simply not be in the right place, etc. etc... If at all possible, please try to have your resolution be close to, or exactly at the aforementioned width... Also, zooming in on desktop may work as well, but I wouldn't know, unfortunately...

Otherwise... I guess view this in dark mode? That might help. And apologies for the technical issues.

The Sovereign of Hyrule: Princess Zelda
The Sovereign of Hyrule. The wielder of the Triforce of Wisdom. Hylia's Child. Light's Beacon... These are only some of the names that may be attributed to her highness of all Hyrule, Zelda.
'Zelda' is moreso a title than a true name, however. It is believed that in an ancient past of Hyrule, the Royal Family had made a pact of sorts, where by law from then on out, every Crown-Princess of Hyrule acting as Sovereign would be named Zelda... This is a rumour moreso than fact, however, as there is little to no confirmatory information about Hyrule's past pre 'Twilight Era', and any information is a closely guarded secret by the Royal Family. Allegedly, many of the Hyrulean matriarchs of history have had a divine connection, and often wielded the triforce of wisdom.

Princess Zelda is known to be a wise and benevolent ruler of Hyrule, gifted by the triforce of wisdom to be able to make the best decisions for the Realm, especially with the ideals of welfare... Her ceding of Hyrule to the Twili during the 'Twilight Crisis' has a mixed reaction, for amongst the patriots, zealots and conservative military men it is believed that she sold the realm out before even a true battle could begin, but for the other citizens of Hyrule, it is believed that the right call was made and that in doing what she had done saved countless lives from the menace that was the King of Twilight.
Zelda herself claims that the Twili made it clear that either Hyrule would be surrendered, or an extermination of the entire realm would commence.

What is known about the Sovereign of Hyrule is that she was born to the Hyrulean Royal Family during the 'Twilight Era' of Hyrule, two decades given or taken before the Twilight crisis that had rocked Hyrule in recent years and marked the end of the aforementioned Era... Whilst little can be told about Princess Zelda in her years before the dawn of the Twilight crisis, perhaps due to some secrecy on the part of the Hyrulean Royal Family, or otherwise other reasoning, assumptions and predictions can be made.
It would perhaps be accurate to say that since birth, like many of the Hyrulean matriarch predecessors before her, she was gifted the triforce of Wisdom by the four Light Spirits, and perhaps Goddess Hylia in addition. This would have made her supernaturally intelligent and charismatic even at a young age. Considering Princess Zelda's current age, it is safe to predict that she had taken over the reins of Hyrule from the predecessor around half a decade or sooner before the Twilight crisis, and from there lead the Realm with benevolence, wisdom and charisma throughout.

Princess Zelda, and the Twilight crisis

It was with the start of the Twilight crisis, where the Twili of the alternate 'Twilight' realm invaded the Hyrulean kingdom and plunged the world into the accursed Twilight for weeks before it's purging by the Hero of Courage when Princess Zelda made her one and most controversial decision, something that would have determined the fate of Hyrule for many ages was the aforementioned Hero not a part of this story.
When the Twilight King and the 'Shadow Beasts' stormed their way into the throne room of Hyrule Castle, laying waste to Zelda's personal Hylian guard without much effort, the Sovereign laid down her blade and ceded Hyrule to the invaders... In her own words and the citizens of which supported her, the action may very well have saved Hyrule's citizens from extermination at the hands of the Twili... However, critics believe that she had surrendered the realm before the soldiers of Hyrule could have properly mustered to repel the invasion, and drive the Twili back to their world. Key military officials of the Realm at the time resent and had lost faith in the 'Divine' princess with the action, of which some still hold the resentment to this day.

It was the weakness of not necessarily Zelda but the Hylian Guard that had a profound impact on the realm's armies. A common theory of why the Guard did little to resist the Twili's authority during the time of the crisis is because of the initial surrender. After all, one may believe that if not even the divine sovereign, the wielder of a triforce would not stand up to the usurpers, why should they? Until recently, the Hylian Guard's spirits were broken into cowardice and inaction because of the event.

From personal retelling, it is believed that after giving in to the Twilight King, Zelda was imprisoned within a tower of her own castle, and allegedly she recalls her first meeting with the Hero of Courage of whom at the time was attempting to escape the boundaries of the castle after capture.
In the tower Zelda would have stayed as the Hero of Courage, now having escaped the confines of the castle went on to purge the twilight from Hyrule everywhere but the castle itself... If her own story is to be believed, the wielder of the triforce of courage, and wisdom met with each other a second time, and from then on out the Princess was not heard from again until close to the end of the crisis.. ..But after herself being rescued from the castle by the Hero of Courage, she went on to assist personally in defeating the wielder of the triforce of power, in league with those of the Twilight realm, even calling on divine intervention.

As the Twilight crisis ended and order was restored, Zelda would return to her duties as the sole matriarch of Hyrule in a partially rebuilt castle, whilst the Hero of Courage was never to be seen again, for whatever reason that may have been.

Post-Twilight

As the Twilight crisis ended and the catastrophe that could have easily befallen all of Hyrule thwarted by both the wielder of the triforce of Courage and Wisdom, the latter would return to her ruling of her Kingdom, with mixed reception... The attitudes of the citizen on how Zelda had handled the Twili would reach the forefront once again... As she made her triumphant return to Hyrule Castle, heading through an ever crowded Hyrule Castle Town, the citizens which surrounded the paved streets would have cheered for her return. Others, especially her critics such as the hardline military soldiers would have cast disapproving silence.
New faces would rise from the end of the Twilight crisis, potentially new challengers and competition for Hyrule, unbeknownst to the common citizen... Both the now Knight-General and Guard-Commander of Hyrule, alongside three members of a vigilante group that operated during the crisis known simply as the 'Resistance' upon their return from an adventure into Faron Woods would have sought a change for the better in Hyrulean government, and a revival in the power and redeeming of the embarrassment of the Realm's armies. These members, alongside many patriotic citizens became vocal, even to the divine mandated Princess Zelda.

And instead of attempting to resist the aspiring changers, Zelda would have compromised with the groups in the intent to prevent what would otherwise be potential unrest and internal conflict... For she too sought to strengthen Hyrule in order to prevent an event like the Twilight crisis from happening again.
However, some say that Princess Zelda has been ever getting quieter in Hyrule as the statocratic Hyrulean military commanders command more and more sway over the running of Hyrule. Intrinsically, due to multiple factors already discussed, Zelda still has much authority over Hyrule, even if it seems that it is used less and less. It is rumoured that, as the Armies continue to ever increase in not only in physical power, but political as well, so does the Princess' suspicion. Reflected by much of Hyrule's citizens as well, it may not be to strange to believe that the changing climate of Hyrule is not all positive under the direction of the Guard-Commander and Knight-General. Occasionally, the Hyrulean Princess does indeed become vocal about her concern about current actions, both true and unconfirmed, but still little has changed.

Trivia :: In the most recent of months, rumours that spread from Hyrule castle make it seem that on occasion,
Princess Zelda disappears from her throne without notice or a trace, leaving Hylian Guard scrambling to find her.
Only for the Princess to return later in the day to confusion from the members of the castle.

Known Skills and Achievements

As her history may prove to the reader, the Princess of Hyrule has been seemingly blessed by the Goddesses and Gods, and the Light Spirits, and such would most certainly attribute towards her powers and proof of achievements.-

To begin with an explanation to what the triforce of Wisdom may well gift to the Princess of Hyrule, it has already been touched upon that to wield the aforementioned triforce would grant it's gifted with almost paranormal levels of intelligence, charisma, wisdom and constitution. Zelda is known to be perhaps, on the very basic level and discussion the best Hylian to lead the Realm not only due to divine claim but due to the great intelligence wielded in addition.
However, even with divine intervention, the Princess is still mortal... No one would claim to say that Zelda is omniscient, and even if only potentially minor, the Princess does make mistakes. She cannot claim to be knowledgeable of everything and everyone in Hyrule, and mysteries such as the extent of what the Hyrulean Armies' power and actions over government and the entire realm are not completely known by her highness...

Continuing with the topic of gifts of divinity, due to the triforce Zelda is known as the most powerful magician in Hyrule, and one of the few practitioners of the magical arts in the realm in addition. She can use her constitution and wisdom to summon destructive and blinding light magic from what seems to be thin air, and can manipulate certain aspects of the physical world without any physical effort on her part. Some claim that she is also telepathic, however this is unfounded.-

From the gift of intrinsic knowledge, and furthermore standard learning in addition, the Princess is a professional in the wielding of a bow and arrow, proof of which is recalled when speaking of her support in defeating the wielder of the triforce of power alongside the Hero of Courage. It is currently a point of contention at whether the Princess or the Hero of Courage is more skilled at the use of the bow and arrow, but without definitive proof, that will forever remain a mystery... She is seen occasionally wielding a sabre or similar sword, however it is unknown if she has any dedicated training with the weapon.

It has already been discussed in how Zelda proved to be in a pivotal role in defeating the forces of Twilight and purging the wielder of the triforce of power from the Realm of Hyrule alongside the wielder of the triforce of Courage. In addition, her surrendering of Hyrule to the Twili early into the crisis could be considered a moralistic victory, but could also be considered proof of her faults to others.

Personality

Much like many another Hylian, the truth of the cultural phenomenon which is commonplace for many members of Humanity does not go amiss by even the descendent of Hylia herself. As might be seen discussed in guides or scripts of which talk of the Hylian people and their culture, the commonality of forcing oneself to adhere to a greatly rigid code as to follow throughout life with little compromise is a truth of the majority of Hylian peoples, said code different from each other. Where one Hylian may wish to dedicate themselves to adherence of a code to respect Honour above all else, another may be more concerned with the rigid perception that all actions must be done for the betterment of Friends, Family or their village. The Princess-Sovereign of Hyrule indeed follows a rigid code much like others of Humanity, and as for her majesty to act on morality is paramount, and would be seen as ever more important than all. It is understood that such a code would influence the behaviour of which can be witnessed by all in regards to the Princess-Sovereign, the fact that perhaps the most effective or honourable decision will never be made should it lead to the most suffering, or rather the most death.

The code of morality dictates the Princess-Sovereign's life and actions greatly. Her majesty remains a being that would seek compromise over conflict, a character that may never seek to hurt another Human or otherwise intelligent soul, physically or otherwise unless already proven that said being would be immoral or evil themselves, and would see to do the such as the highest dishonour that she may bring to herself. Princess Zelda believes truly in "Innocent until proven guilty" mantra, or rather as it would seem. The such may be an explanation as to why the Hyrulean realm would seem less so stable, or rather moreso independent of a truly autocratic system that would have allowed for many a distinct figure or group as to rise to fill the gap, a gap exposed to all upon the crisis that had come of the Twilight... Nevertheless, the Princess of Hyrule has on occasion talked on the code of which she follows, for a reason many others within Humanity would in addition, taking great stock in the such. It would be in her belief that the moral code allows for herself to remain grounded and for her actions to remain beneficial and benevolent. The Princess-Sovereign refuses to decide on a less moral approach, for it would be in her belief that to do so would become a cascade that would begin to eventually turn oneself into a repressive and immoral dictator, a reality of which she may fear the most.
The strict adherence to the moral code would lead to many a Hylian to give critique. Though perhaps hypocritical to do so as so many within Hyrule adhere to a similarly strict code of which is followed, reasoning may still bear fruit. Where perhaps the most effective decision may be taken to forward the Hyrulean realm the furthest, a result of which could truly lead to a more stable and peaceful society in the future for the cost of few immoral acts in the present, no such decision would even be considered by the Princess-Sovereign. Many continue the reasoning mentioned, perhaps suggesting that the Princess Zelda's unwillingness to take action due to the code of morality may inadvertently create great change for the Realm, a great change that may prove truly disastrous. Said weakness of following a strict code with little room for change may be seen... For instance, her attempts at cooperation over conflict may have resulted in the ever growing influence of the Guard and the Armies of Hyrule in the political climate, of which can be argued to be either a positive force or a force that is beginning to overstep it's boundaries... Fact proves the former as true, but it could still be a matter of perception.

To speak moreso personally of the Princess-Sovereign would be ever difficult, for her majesty rarely is seen by the people in doing the such, nor is comment deep on the subject... Nevertheless, as hinted by the moralistic code of which she strictly upholds herself to, and as proven by various actions throughout her history, the Princess of Hyrule may foremost be seen as a gentle being, one of whom acts truly of compassion, of selflessness and a powerful willingness to be understanding and empathetic of another's struggles. It is perhaps fact of which states that without such qualities, Princess Zelda's uncanny willingness to cooperate with the Hero of Courage during the Twilight Crisis may not have come to be. As may be unfortunate, little else can be truly commented on at the time.

As may be quite obvious, and like most other Hyruleans, Princess Zelda is Gnostic Theist.

Zelda does not seem to have an applicable political view. Perhaps she is of the mind that certain situations demand different policy.

The Princess of Hyrule would agree with the authoritarian rule, due to her belief that much good can be done, and with more effect by a single ruler.

Following from the previous statement, it may be theorised that the view aforementioned may be changed when challenged logically. There are
those whom would argue that authoritarian rule would go in direct conflict with the moral code. Nevertheless, the statement
has not been directly stated to her majesty, and thus is not brooded on as of current.

Cooperation over authority and conflict with others is seemingly a tenant of Zelda's. This is what makes her disillusioned somewhat with the current
climate of Hyrule and the rumoured actions of the Hyrulean military.
