[font=Helvetica][size=105]Political parties in the modern sense have existed in [url=https://www.nationstates.net/nation=nhoor/detail=factbook/id=1136281][color=#288a72]Nhoor[/color][/url] since the late 19th century. Originally there were just two: the Monarchist Party ([i]Monarcīa̦nhoch pw Cwstana[/i]) and the Opposition Party ([i]Cwstana jan So̦rhicanhorej[/i]). The latter of the two was soon joined by various other opposition parties, such as the Workers' Party of the Dominion ([i]Cwstana qo Onnubecāsa̦qo[/i]), the Party of Liberties ([i]Cwstana qo Esaswnoqo[/i]), and the Severance Party ([i]Cwstana qo Morhireqo[/i]). After the general elections of 1923, another party than the Monarchist Party became the largest one in parliament for the first time in Nhoor history. After the Opposition Party won the elections themselves with enough seats to form the government in 1970, they changed their name into Party of Agrarians and Fishermen ([i]Cwstana qo Curhisorhanoqo s Jo̦qhuroqo[/i]), whereas the Severance Party was declared illegal in already in 1930 and operated through the more moderate Republican Party ([i]Gerchrunw̦ch pw Cwstana[/i]).[/size][/font]

[font=Helvetica][size=105]In 1978, the constitution was changed and the current form of government was adopted, which saw parliament elected indirectly by the provincial parliaments, which were each allocated a number of seats based on the number of inhabitants of their province. Since 2021, there have been 32 provinces.[/size][/font]

[font=Helvetica][size=105]Since the elections of 2022, the following parties are represented in parliament. Political parties can contest the elections on the national level if they participate in at least one third of the provinces (previously 10; from the 2022 elections on, this increased to 11 as the number of provinces increased to 32 in 2021) representing at least one third of the total amount of seats in the national parliament (67).[/size][/font]
