International Relief Works Agency
The International Relief Works Agency (IRWA) is set up so as to coordinate international relief works during large-scale disasters. It organizes annual exercises between member-nations disaster management agencies to share best practices and experiences to cut down the learning curve of individual agencies. Eventually, the aim of the organisation is to assist the residents of the world and thereby make the world a better place to live in.
The agency is sustained by voluntary donations, mostly from member-nations. Operations carried out by disaster management agencies of member-nations. The agency evacuates, rehabilitates, resettles, and provides healthcare and other emergency services. It also coordinates the procurement and distribution of aid and supplies. The headquarters of the organisation is situated in Port Aramis.
Structure
The General Council is the decision-making body of the agency. Each member-nation sends one representative to the Council. This Council nominates the members of the Leadership Committee which function as the executive of the organisation. The Chairperson of the Leadership Committee is the head of the agency. The Chairperson of the Council rotates in order of the date of joining the agency. The General Council establishes a Relief Committee for the duration of each disaster, and the Chairperson of the Relief Committee is the head of coordinating each such disaster. People affected by the disaster are suitably represented in the Relief Committee for sensitivity to local necessities.
