TCB MoWAA: Vote AGAINST Repeal "Death Penalty Ban"
The Communist Bloc
Ministry of World Assembly Affairs
Vote AGAINST
Overview
This repeal aims to nullify GAR#535 "Death Penalty Ban" for a number of rationales such as: the unreasonableness of prioritizing cost over justice, the confidence in the justice systems of WA nations to reduce arbitrary and innocent executions, the need to protect the public from criminals and the inconsistency of an argument over GAR#535's wartime executions exemption, and concerns over compliance and national sovereignty.
Recommendation
The claim of high financial costs for a pro-death penalty policy is not applicable in all circumstances, such as outside of a Western legal system POV. The argument of the repeal that many nations within the WA already have "robust procedural safeguards" to reduce errors of arbitrary executions and innocent victims is also unconvincing. The pro-death penalty argument from public safety and "to keep people safe from dangerous criminals" lacks nuance, while the appeal to national sovereignty and compliance is irrelevant.
For these reasons, the Communist Bloc's Ministry of World Assembly Affairs recommends voting AGAINST the General Assembly Resolution under vote Repeal: "Death Penalty Ban"
