Pravda Newspaper
The Soviet broadsheet newspaper, Pravda (Правда - "Truth") is the official newspaper of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and perhaps the most influential in the nation. Its origins date back to May 5, 1912 when it released its first publication. However, the newspaper was already circulating copies since January 1911 outside the Russian Empire. It solidified its juggernaut status during the Great October Socialist Revolution and since then it has been publishing on a weekly basis. With the onset of the Internet, the newspaper created its own website on Jan 2007. Since then, Pravda has published articles on a daily basis while maintaining its weekly circulation of physical copies.
The newspaper's current General Editor is Dr. Georgiy Stepanov, a graduate in journalism and political science from Moscow State University. He has over 30 years of experience in the field and has traveled abroad to collaborate in different projects, advancing socialist ideals.
Due to the influence of the Soviet Union in international affairs, the newspaper is widely tracked by outside observers as it may or may not reveal some of the opinions of high Communist Party officials.
