Research

Hail of Blades- Accuracy
Users in the past cast the spell by sight, while accurate enough at short to medium ranges, it lacks against targets at long range or if the target is highly mobile. This will allow the projectiles to adjust trajectory according to the user’s will, but not very much due to high speed. IE: the projectile can turn in a direction to give a higher chance to hit but won’t zigzag and serpentine like a sidewinder missile.
Oculus- Eyesight Augmentation
Uses a pair of magic circles that enhances vision when looked through, enables the user to see further (400x zoom), reduces glare and haze. Meant to be used mainly with magic since you cannot mount a scope on someones arm.
Hail of Blades- Durability
With increased speeds and nothing to stop the projectiles from crumpling against armor or solid surfaces, efforts will be made to further augment its strength to that 50 times greater than steel
Hail of Blades- Velocity
With the previous breakthrough allowing the spell to launch at the speed of a rifle bullet, this will aim to further increase that speed by 50%

Our forays into the world of holy magic.

5 years- Magius Domini

    An initial effort to utilize holy magic through means of specialized equipment, gives a foundation to further research and allows for basic spells and weak summons.

3 years- Specialized Summoning

    Allows combat worthy angels to be summoned with various types to serve different roles. I currently have no leftover brainpower to actually come up with any variants at the moment.

7 years- Reticence

    Our version of the spartan program, uses holy magic to enhance the subject's physical capabilities. Increases the overall strength of the skeletal system (we have hollow lightweight bones), increases physical strength from the usual 0.80 of the average human to 1.5x, increases height (were all fairly short). Also has the option to have a halo and slightly glowing eyes and skin which can be turned on and off for aesthetic purposes.

5 years- Ethereal Chains

    Angels are still spiritual beings, sustained or rapid spellcasting drains their magical energy quickly and they dissapate. This anchors them in reality and allows them to function permanently.

2 years- Divine Intervention

    Creates a wide "barrier" of holy energy between two or more angels, detonating incoming explosives, the shrapnel however will still pass through without interference. Multiple angels create a net. The effect lasts a few minutes before needing to be recast. The angels will be defeated if the resulting blast is strong enough. Kinetic weaponry such as bullets, slugs, etc. without volatile components.



3 years- Hail of Blades
    Instead of just some golden blast of holy energy, it is instead gathered up into a glass-like physical object, typically swords or arrows but its appearance depends on the user. Shatters upon impact with hard targets or else vanishes after a short while. Velocity is quite slow, comparable to that of a longbow.

3.5 years- Hail of Blades- Velocity

    Current speed of the projectiles are relatively low, at about the speed of a longbow arrow, I want to increase the speed to something comparable with that of a bullet to take on targets further away with greater accuracy, thus reducing the mana cost for spamming the spell until it hits something

2 years- Hail of Blades- Durability

    Increases the durability of projectiles from Hail of Blades to that of steel and allows them to stay until dispelled, effectively allowing users to pick up one of the projectiles and wield them normally.


5 years- Necromancy

    Allows the undead to be raised, they have poor physical capabilities and extremely basic mental capabilties as well. Meant to serve as a foundation for further research.

6 years- Refined Necromancy

    Allows the undead to be raised with physical and mental capabilities matching those when they were still alive.

3 years- Blessing

    Allieviates feelings of fatigue, sleepiness, and restores a bit of energy to the target. However, continued repeated uses will cause severe medical problems due to a lack of proper sleep and increased strain on the body. Perfect for letting undesirables work literally to the bone.

Construction, Infrastructure, and Economy


3 years- Holy Seal

    Uses holy magic to increase the resistance of molecules to movement or seperation effectively "fortifying" something. Cannot be used for organics and primarily used to prevent two things. One, to reduce maintenance costs and increase the durability of objects ie: no scratches or chipping etc. Two, to prevent and reduce sharpnel and damage from glancing blows: bullets hitting stone or wood throws some pretty nasty shrapnel everywhere as the italians in the alps or anyone fighting in the forests have experienced.

5 years- Eternal Stone

    More resistant to weathering, acidic rain, damage, bending and cracking. It uses extremely fine silicates from volcanic ash which not only bonds to concrete but its small size allows it to block microscopic holes in the concrete to prevent contaminants from entering. Polyfibers would be mixed in to help absorb tension. The steel rebar would be replaced with rune encrusted crystal strand tissue to add a backbone of sorts.

5 years- Consecrated Gold

    A synthetic material borne of alchemical treatments and contemporary composite materials, Consecrated Gold is a metal stronger than steel, able to withstand greater amounts of stress, damage, and does not corrode or rust. While its luster and color are indistinguishable from normal gold, however, it does not conduct electricity nor heat. That is, it has an extremely high melting point and specific heat.

4 years- Elven Glass

    Made of transparent metal, it is much stronger than normal glass, being 4 times harder than fused silica glass and nearly as hard as sapphire. For use in both military and civilian purposes.

2 years- Chrono-vault

    With the Chrono-vaults complete wasted and expired food is a bygone possibility, trapped in stasis a person could order a batch of French fries, wait 6 hours, and enjoy them as though they came right out of the fryer. A very welcome surprise for our troops who no longer have to rely on dried rations and the like for sustenance when they can simply open their patented Chrono-vault and enjoy a luxurious meal in the middle of whatever tropical jungle they find themselves in.

4 years-Ultra High Definition Cameras and Screens

    Allows the creation of 4k definition screens and cameras.

5 years- Holy Light

    Uses holy magic to bless a plant which protects them from unwanted pests and diseases.

6 years- Magius Thermal Negation

    Uses temperature runes (ie: heat absorbtion, ice magic, pyromancy) combined with conventional temperature management systems. Meant for use in civilian refrigeration systems, and in military applications to reduce thermal signatures. Also found in the Seikishi, some automatic firearms, autocannons, and golems to prevent overheating.

7 years- Magius Solista

    Susing a small cylindrical base, it summons what is in essence, a miniature sun. The heat and light emitted by the sphere, as well as the extent of the area affected, can all be customized as needed, and consume a proportional amount of mana. Intended for use in agriculture, as well as general use in things such as survival gear, civil planning, and particularly is of great use in colder climates.

6 years- Advanced Inferno Suppression System

    As a nation that prides itself on the unmatched and untouched natural beauty of our countryside, much needs to be done in order to prevent any unwanted mass destruction of our forests in case of some pyromaniac razing them because they can't be bothered fighting an insurgency. Essentially a pressurized foam capsule that emits an alchemically treated mist which chokes out flames when in sufficient concentrations, like a fire extinguisher bomb that can be used to fight large scale fires. Soluble with water and washes away after a certain time.

2 years- Mana Destabilization Reactor - developed with Zygoltiana, Tholasyne, and Candain

    Producing power by harnessing the energy created by destabilizing thoroughly refined mana, the machine should be able to produce large amounts of arcane or electrical power with minimal environmental impact.

10 years- Magius Environmental Maintenance Suite

    Autonomous pollutant scrubbing unit, removes atmospheric polluntants, purifies water, and cleanses the ground. Condenses plastics, glass, and metal into cubes to be picked up and recycled later. Able to move and cleanse an area by itself, but more often used at strategic locations around sources of pollution.

3 years- Wide Area Sanitization Spell- “Exorcism” –

    Uses high temperature, low pressure flames over a wide area to physically kill any contaminants, insects, and other microscopic organisms followed by a short period in which a dense cloud of chlorine dioxide would further ensure the destruction of microbial life. Finally, freezing cold would serve to burst even the most resilient cell walls with the sudden flash freeze of their internal water. Using this spell is laborious, painstaking, and, slow work as multiple users must remain standing and advance slowly to ensure the spell remains under control. Not suited for use when under direct enemy fire.

6 years- Advanced Automobile Manufacturing

    Allows for the creation of advanced automobiles that are integrated with magical equipment such as the tesseracts and reactors. With no pollution, peerless efficiency, respectable speed and maneuverability, it also has incredible acceleration.

6 years- Computation Jewels (Renamed from: Ether Transfigurator and Magius Core)

    This would function like a brain of sorts for magic, since we are unable to harness magic without tools or apply them to magic seals this is the next best solution. Magical scripts are etched into a mana conductive crystal before being inserted inside the reactor that activate when mana is sent through them. More scripts and functions are added to regulate both manual and automatic activation.

6 years- Reinforced Skeleton - Stress and Shock Negation

    Weight, shock absorption, and flexibility are all necessary to consider for the skeleton of the Seikishi. Thick unyielding composite rods will form the base skeleton. Each segment would be cast in a single piece for increased structural integrity while a spongy, yet resilient substance would be used in its core, hopefully absorbing the shock. Its leg segments would instead feature powerful coiled springs to act as suspension in order to reduce the damage caused by stomping around. The “skull” would have countless holes to allow for controls, mana conduits, and wide displays to show the external environment The “chest” would be heavily armored by thick alternating bands of composite metal, intakes on its upper back would suck in air for the Magius engine which is stored inside.

4 years- Scrying Magic - Viewing Screens and External View

    Acts as a magical alternative to cameras and displays for the mech.

12 years- Advanced Golem Manufacturing and Control Systems

    Allows for very advanced golem designs to be made and controlled, this covers two extremes. One being a model focused so heavily on combat that it cannot function without a pilot (the mechas) and the other being the Autodoll which is heavily geared to the civilian market and exceedingly lifelike.

6 years- Magius Equip

    The base foundation for any items used to amplify magic or allows for the use of magic for infantry. They allow the wielder to channel the energy which previously only allowed for elemental martial arts (bending) into other types of magic via layers upon layers of rune inscribed crystal strand tissue. This system is designed to be easily modified while arcane research continues as well as ease of use for the wielder. A very simple voice recognition spell will respond to the appropriate spell name or chant which then sends mana to the appropriate runes, the magic then manifests itself in the form of a magic circle from which the spell then comes from. In layman's terms this is essentially a miniaturized arcane library with an auto suggestion feature which gets rid of the hassle of writing down runes elsewhere or carrying around a wagon full of magical tomes. Mana containers, typically reinforced glass cylinders that are strapped onto the body like a bandolier, can be hooked up the system, though this is to make up for some of the larger and more complicated spells.

    Canon for hybridizing a colonist: With enough time and development even those born with no magic affinities whatsoever can use the arcane arts this way, though it is strongly advised against in case it falls into colonial hands. Today they serve to augment the relatively weak capabilities of our species in combat.

4 years- Magius Equip Integration

    Allows a specialized version of the Magius Equip to be integrated into a mecha, allowing for it to use magic as opposed to being completely unarmed.

6 years- Missire Propulsion Pack

    A magic-based rocket system that harnesses the volatility of refined mana and various other systems such as pressurization chambers, air magic runes, and the necessary insulation etc etc.

2 years- Mana Safe Storage and Use System

    Prevents mana overload, leakages, etc. in order to stop the mecha from accidentally exploding during combat.

2 years- Integration of Modern Weapons and Sensor Systems

    Allows modern equipment to be mounted and used on mechas after sucessful hybridization.

8 years- Streamlined Golem Production

    Allows for 20% faster low and medium quality golem production, developed in accordance with industrialization efforts.

1 year- Biochemical Sealing

    Installs filters, seals and insulates other areas of the mecha against biochemical or temperature based attacks. Relatively easy to do considering fire isn't going to do much against several inches of composite ceramic armor plating.

2 years- Mana Destabilization Reactor Integration

    Allows for the the more powerful energy core to be installed, makes the mech more efficient and gives more power to its systems.

5 years- Magius Tesseract

    The premier magical energy storage device of the Dynasty. Essentially a reinforced box filled with a condensed ferrous-mana sludge, it is able to store a greater amount of magical energy much more efficiently than the unstable and fickle Imperial Jade crystals used previously. In the past damaging mana storage systems usually meant a explosive release of energy which more often than not turned whatever object, and whoever was unfortunate to be near it, to ashes. Now, with the energy suspended in a stable environment of iron, titanium, and silver particulates, this problem has all but been negated. In the future the tesseract will come in sizes from that of a chocolate bar for civilian devices to that of a house to serve as backup storage for the city's main power grids.

1 year- Magius Uplink

    Combines colonial and magical communications systems with scrying magic.

Other Spells and Weapon Systems


7 years- Mana Destabilization Superweapon

    The weapon will take on the form of a large howitzer like device, a long wide barrel with a suitable loading mechanism, and a plethora of arcane machinery. To fire a shot a long cylinder of overloaded imperial jade will be placed into the primary chamber wherein the mana from either a tesseract or reactor. The massive and rapid influx of magical energy would quickly overwhelm the unrefined Imperial Jade's conductive abilities, causing it to crack and eventually be vaporized. With the stone now evenly spread throughout the primary chamber as a fine mist, it gives some mass and shape to the otherwise unruly energy, allowing it to be controlled far easier than usual. This is then recondensed by a series of repulsors into an extremely dense projectile, at this point the Imperial Jade has long been vaporized.

    The destructive force will come from what our engineers have dubbed a Diffusive Explosion, a powerful reaction wherein mana under the maximum amount of pressure makes contact with the air. If the initial blast doesn't kill the enemy, the oxygen deprivation and rapid changes in air pressure will. Early detonation is prevented by weak air magic which create a thin vacuum layer around the projectile. This is then punctured once it makes contact with another solid surface, the mana then rapidly expands and causes an immense explosion.

4 years- "Demon King" Heat Based Implosion Spell

    The premier anti-personnel magic, using a relatively simple and weak pyromancy spell and a generous amount of zehpryonity it consists of a compact ball of flames surrounded by a dense shell of pure oxide. The flames when allowed to come into contact with the outer shell creates a sudden and tremendous explosion, however this means that the surrounding air is consumed almost instantly and creates a vacuum. Air would then rush to fill in this empty space, if the explosion is powerful enough the vacuum is strong enough to rip lungs out of victim's mouths. Normally too complicated to be performed on the spot, a rune inscribed stone tablet is simply launched at the target which results in an explosion with a lethal radius comparable to a fragmentation grenade. Larger spells are inscribed on Meteor Arrows and launched via elemental howitzer, with an lethal radius of 60 yards.

6 years- Joint Nuclear Program

6 years (refunded)- Magius Archangel

    Flying battleships, discarded in favor of the Seikishi program.

5 years- Space Program

    Uses magical and technological means to establish an orbital space program.

10 years- Joint Strike System w/ Revin

    Another advancement due to the help of the Luso-Brazillians, the JSS is a system which fuses sensor data from friendly aircraft, ships or ground forces using reconfigurable communication systems and data links. In essence this allows soldiers to target enemies spotted by anything equipped with JSS compatible devices, for example, a fighter that has achieved a missile lock on a target will relay its information to the rest of the squadron, thus allow them to lock on as well. Ideally the JSS is meant to extend the range and precision of our munitions, particularly beyond visual range weaponry like cruise missiles, artillery, etc.

6 years- Stealth Technology and a bit of cheeky reverse engineering with and from Revin

    Allows the military to create vehicles ie: aircraft and ships, to be incorporated with stealth technology. This also includes the creation of F-22 and F-35 equivalents.

    Stips tankmen of their heavy armor and puts emphasis on speed, allows more systems and weapons to be mounted to infantry and is in essence either extremely light power armor or exoframe.
