Pirate Guilds of Piratia (WIP)

In Piratia, Pirate Guild is the name given to associations of pirates. The first pirate guilds were founded circa 1600, but the country wouldn't see many of them until 1650, the start of the golden age of piracy. The Association of John Molloy was the first pirate guild in Piratia, and was active for approximately ten years, being dissolved after the execution of its leader John Molloy. Most guilds were based in Macana Island, the westernmost island of Dostania Archipelago. The phenomenon was initially restricted to Angladian pirates, as Orroestalians and Lusitanians joined the party late, in 1640. The pirate guilds would get recognized as a threat after the 1652 incident between the navy of Lusitania and Sabertooth's Guild. Sabertooth was a Bratonian and would join Bratonia in 1665 as a corsair. He was the most feared pirate of Piratia, at least until Elwood Paine.

Elwood Paine, nicknamed "the Grim Reaper", was an Angladian pirate born in Deepwharf. He founded the Warmakers in 1708 and became one of the richest pirates in history, with a fortune equivalent to $85 million. Elwood's success inspired other pirates to create guilds, and as a result, the number of guilds grew from 30 to 123 in the period of 1715 to 1730.

As a republic of pirates, the Free State of Piratia is still run by pirate guilds. According to estimates, there are 605 pirate guilds in Piratia, but the number fluctuates constantly, so there is no accurate way of telling the exact number of guilds. Below it's a list of the major pirate guilds of Piratia.
