King Crolhein Deposed by Rafaiad Tribunal, but State Atheism to Remain in Force

The pronouncement of state atheism in Wyvelo Plinth shocked many in Rafaiad, not to mention many in Wyvelo Plinth itself. Declarations by King Crolhein clarified that the freedom of religion has always and will always be contingent on religious organizations preserving the value of life in their nations. Despite this, the Wyvelo Plinth allotment rejected the King, and successfully invited a national military unit to depose the King for a new round of monarchic elections.

Further surprise ensued when the tribunal expeditionary force dissolved the allotment and redrew the lots. In what has been widely condemned as a "corrupted draw", the tribunal forces proceeded to draw a "representative sample" entirely comprised of atheists, and then avowed that they did so per Rafaiad general governance. Under international law in Rafaiad, it is impermissible to refuse opportunities to restrain religion in the face of "Acts of God" being used as an excuse for mayhem, and thus King Crolhein's actions were lawful, whereas the allotment's rejection of him was not. What it did prove instead was that the government of Wyvelo Plinth was no longer functional in its current construction.

"The central principle of religious governance in Rafaiad is and shall always be this: Thou Shalt Not Kill. Where 'Acts of God' arise upon the nation's causes of death, the stellar federation of Rafaiad is committed to the restraint of religion; where 'Acts of God' do not arise upon a nation's causes of death, the stellar federation of Rafaiad is committed to the freedom of religion. No God is recognized who commands murder, nor ever shall one be, but death is acknowledged to be resisted by all, and all governance in Rafaiad acknowledges foremost the right to life," said Admiral Sun Kalicia, leader of the expeditionary force and Queen Pro Tempore of Wyvelo Plinth.

Rumors have been swirling of the religious affinity of Queen-Admiral Kalicia (who many believe to be a Shyenthist), as well as of the fate of the former King Crolhein (last seen boarding an interstellar transport under heavy guard). Given the pronouncements of the tribunal force that his actions were lawful, it is believed the former king has been placed in some manner of protection program to escape reprisals.

New monarchic elections have been announced to occur "eventually", pending confirmation of the stabilization of Wyvelo Plinth by Rafaiad military forces.
