Jade's Fancy Schmancy Species Update
Hi guys welcome back to episode 628 of my Alterran Let's Play! series, today I will be overhauling the species rules in order to rejuvenate RP as well as allowing confederation style nations to RP more effectively as well as enabling certain nation backgrounds. Adhere to the following guidelines and submit to the RPM for approval.
All species and the required information must be placed in a FACTBOOK
All species must be approved by the RPM by means of submitting the factbook
Nations will follow the population growth chart
Nations cannot exceed their total population
Nations are allowed to determine the population of each individual domestic species within their borders
Nations must keep track of their other species either through exact numbers or percentages of their overall population
Nations cannot convert population to other species if attained through means of exchange or conquest
Species that have been purged will not be compensated or replaced
Population can be converted ONLY during a soft reset IF the Main Species is changed to something else
Species in the process of being purged will not count towards the calculation of population growth percentage (no conversion via total pop growth ex: for every 2 humans born 2 non-humans die)
Combat losses and civilian deaths will be accounted for
Population growth must be kept on a log showing all sources of increases and decreases as well as previous totals. This is to prevent any "fraud" and makes it easy to check for foul play.
-Population w/ growth 2/1/20: 15,000,000
-Conquest 2/6/20: 5,000,000
-Trade with [insert nation here] 2/7/20: 10,000-Total population 2/14/20: 20,010,000
-Population w/ growth 2/14/20: insert number here-Civilian deaths. Bombing. 2/16/20: 200,000
Main Species
The governing, overriding species in a nation by which its doctrine, buffs, and debuffs are based on.
Colonist nations are only allowed humans
Only the main species is allowed to have pros and cons affecting research times
The main species is determined by the player's choice.
Enhanced Individuals
Intended mainly for colonial nations but possible through certain magic, modified organisms are only possible with the main species of a country. This subsection is necessitated by the increasing numbers of super soldiers and spartan programs, all of which have different buffs and debuffs from country to country, adding them as their own "species" makes it easier to find what these soldiers are without having to wade through factbooks and piece them together.
Modified individuals do not count as their own species and only fall under this subsection to be subject to the pros/cons style factbook entry
Sub-species
A variant of the main species, these can be used with a specific role or purpose in mind.
Subspecies must be modeled off the main species in terms of looks and traits
Added or removed traits must be relevant lore wise to the main species ie: a subspecies that is stronger and larger physically with slightly different physical characteristics. Think of how hobgoblins are a subspecies of normal goblins.
Subspecies must be balanced like the main species and presented to the RPM for approval
Only Natives may have sub species
Cannot use sub-species to circumvent research into super soldier technologies
Hybrid
A combination of two different races.
Natives, Hybrid nations, and Colonists may have Hybrid Species
Hybrid species between two different players needs the consent of both players ie: no hybrids of other species without asking
Hybrid species will be a combination of both traits of each combinant species
Hybrid species will have their pros and cons either reinforced or weakened relative to the main species ie: anything combined with a human will usually have their traits weakened unless they happen to be weaker than humans in some respects
Hybrid species will inherit pros and cons from BOTH species, that is to say, you cannot go around breeding powerful species to create some sort of unstoppable super being without it having flaws
Hybrid offspring between two existing Hybrid Species will only further dilute the pros and cons they inherit
Hybrid species must be balanced and presented to the RPM for approval
Example
Human+Ogre= Half-ogres which have greater strength than a human but less than a normal one, they will posses greater intellect than an ogre but not as much as a human etc etc. it depends on how the species is balanced.
Cohabitant
A secondary species within a nation. After a 1000 years chances are, most colonist nations will have some sort of native species within their populations.
Must be quite different from a human, no "looks just like a human but has better X and stronger Y"
Cohabitant species must be balanced like the main species and presented to the RPM for approval
Only Colonists may have Cohabitants
May have ONE cohabitant species
Cohabitants are not capable of using magic unless the colonist nation has been hybridized
