Militia and the Good Morning

Primarily, as of March 1442, Kaspolia has no standing army. Instead, it relies on levies reporting directly to the Great Duke. Primarily, these levies are lightly equipped infantry who carry pavise shields for protection and a versatile polearm, the good morning spear-club. Useful in both urban and field combat, the spear-club is versatile enough to bludgeon heavliy armed shock infantry, impale charges of cavalry, and stab enemy light troops.

The good morning earned its name from the greeting to other citizens. Should the party asked reply in a foreign accent from a country that is hostile to the Grand Duchy, all citizens armed within earshot will fall upon the obvious spy. The language of Kaspolia, while similar to the Yasei mainland nations' own dialects, is an amalgamation of all of them, and thus make differentiating foreigners a simple task. The difficult annunciations present in the dialect of Henan, the official language, makes it hard to emulate.

The spear-club is incredibly cheap to produce, made out of large tree branches topped with a steel spike. The durability of these weapons makes them last years, even after heavy use. Thus, the cost effectiveness has proved useful to the currently indebted nation.
