No Computers?!

Recently, Nilantive senators discussed their proposed policy of making sundials the national clock, to much chatter and positive proceedings. Legislators loved the cultural aspects just as much as the logistical aspects, and swiftly approved this bold and beautiful change.
However, in the second that it was being signed, a crazed hippie rushed in and scribbled "phone bad" on the document. To the dismay of all involved, they wrote in pen. Even worse, when the translators of law, the Law Translators, translated the law, they had no choice but to announce that computers were banned in Nilantive.
The millions of AI that lived in harmony with Nilantive citizens were promptly shut down overnight, to the great sadness of everyone. At the next possible opportunity, Nilantive government officials promise to restore the service, although they are unsure of when they will be able to do so.
