Avro Province Factbook

Avro
Avro Province, not to be confused with the previously mentioned Avro Province, is Storalia's fifth smallest province, and the fifth most populous. Avro is one of the oldest, being founded in 1752 by the "Kutra-Saveka" bill, which split Storalia up into its original four provinces, being Storal, Avro, Avyedi, and Farko. The province is often overlooked in most politics, as it's not doing poorly or particularly well, or being a major influencer in Storalian history, even less so than our very own province of Avyedi. Despite this, it has become a hub of small-scale regional politics lately thanks to its overall neutrality. Avro has a strong bond with its neighbouring province of Forsk, which was once originally part of Avro, before it was split off in 1798.

Avro's provincial capital is Tuska. Tuska is fairly large, with close to 1.5 million citizens, and thus serves as both the hub of the province, as well as being its capital. Tuska was originally at one point two cities, named Tuveko and Chiaska, but merged in the late 1980s due pressure from the Avro government, and a desire for greater coordination between the two cities. Tuska is steadily growing, and is expected to remain the provincial hub for a long period of time. The city originally also administered Arai as a municipality before Marlo Isker broke off due to tensions with the central government of the province.

History & Culture
Much of Avro's history is similar to Forsk's history, as the two provinces were once one. Avro also originally governed parts of Stratsuko and Treko, before the province was reorganized in 1808. Post split, Avro was for the most part the most dominant of the two provinces (Often called the Twin Provinces by some in legislature and media), until Forsk eventually outpaced it thanks to a strong mining industry in the northern area of the province. Avro lacked the same resource pool, and thus fell to the wayside.

Industry & Economy
Avro is a service industry, with a focus on Information Technology and Tourism. Fishing is a tertiary industry for the province, but in recent years it has struggled to compete with both other provinces, and other nations. As such it has fallen behind the other slowly growing sectors, despite government subsidies to keep it afloat. Avro's GDP is slowly growing, at a slightly slower rate than nearby Kirso and Forsk.

Climate & Environment
Avro has a rainy maritime climate, and is largely forested on the coasts, but further inland the terrain gradually transitions to a hilly grasslands with large grazing herds. Avro experiences mild winters, and mild summers, without any of the severe winds other provinces near it suffer from thanks to the chain of islands protecting most of Avro Province's coast. This results in a somewhat unique ecology for the coastal regions of the province, with trees being taller than all of the surrounding provinces, allowing for many endemic species to thrive in its forests. The government of Avro has taken many measures to protect said forests, ensuring their continued survival for centuries to come.
