Massive Resort Complex Begins Construction

20/07/2018-Liki Levu

Construction has commenced on what will be the largest tourism facility on the Liki Islands. The complex, known colloquially among locals as the ‘Rhed Resort’, is a massive golf course, hotel and casino. It will be operated by the Rhedian Foreign Investment Board, and will generate 350 million Rhedian Pounds for the Liki Islands economy. The Rhedian Ambassador to the Liki Islands, John Salmon, used a ceremonial golden spade to excavate the first spade of the resort’s foundations.

The site, situated near the coastal town of Liki Levu, will be home to a 850 metre tall tower called the Rhed Khalifa, which will house the hotel and casino. Surrounding the tower will be a 60-hectare golf course. The resort will also be at the edge of the world-renowned Toucan Sam Nature Reserve, famous for its 108 metre high waterfall and unique esturine ecosystem, and guests will be able to enjoy eco-tours of the National Park. Further amenities include an 828 square metre infinity pool overlooking the coast.

It is hoped that large-scale tourism projects such as these will greatly benefit the Liki Islander economy.
