The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic, humorless population of 2.114 billion Tostandians hold their civil and political rights very dear, although the wealthy and those in business tend to be viewed with suspicion.

The minute government, or what there is of one, prioritizes Defense, although Administration and Industry are also considered important, while Law & Order and International Aid receive no funds. Crime, especially youth-related, is all-pervasive, perhaps because of the country's complete lack of prisons. Tostandia's national animal is the Nightingale, which is also the nation's favorite main course.
