The United Socialist States of The Polders is a huge, orderly nation, notable for its barren, inhospitable landscape, compulsory military service, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 387 million Dutches are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Education. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Amsterdam. The average income tax rate is 30.1%.

The powerhouse Poldersian economy, worth 40.0 trillion Guldens a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a slick, highly efficient, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Uranium Mining, Retail, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 103,444 Guldens, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.6 times as much as the poorest.

It is often said that only Leader could bring down Dàguó, citizens live in superstitious fear of the mysterious glowing clouds that float over The Polders, annulments are on the rise as couples discover their ancestors were born in the same hospitals, and unused plastic recycling bins are being dumped into landfills by the tonne. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a capable police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Polders's national animal is the Double tailed lion, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

The Polders is ranked 163,355th in the world and 23rd in United States of UBG for Most Inclusive, scoring 29.64 on the Mandela-Wollstonecraft Non-Discrimination Index.
