The illustrious House de Leon of Potenzia, a noble dynasty with a rich and storied history, has played a pivotal role in the development and governance of the Potenzian Empire. From its humble beginnings in the late 14th century to its contemporary influence, House de Leon has left an indelible mark on the empire's political landscape and culture.

Founding and Early Years

In the year 1378, a group of plucky and well-financed explorers embarked on a daring expedition to settle in the northwest region of Potenzia. These intrepid pioneers, driven by a thirst for new opportunities and the promise of a new homeland, traveled across the globe in search of their dreams. At that time, the regions of present-day Potenzia were fragmented, divided among various feuding kingdoms. The arrival of these settlers marked the beginning of what would later be known as "Potenzian" history, as they began the process of recolonizing the region, starting with the region of León.

During these early years, the settlers faced numerous challenges, including perilous encounters with wild lions, a testament to their resilience and determination. On August 2, 1395, "Tomás the Tamer" was acclaimed as the first King of Potenzia, an internal recognition that signified the establishment of a new monarchy. King Tomás I ruled until his death in 1416 when he passed the throne to his son, King Tomás II, known as “Tomás the Taker” for his efforts in consolidating control over the various regions surrounding León.

Influence and Alliances

In the late 1700s, House de Leon's influence expanded further when a prominent member of the House of Medici from Tuscana married into the Potenzian Royal House of León. This union not only solidified the dynasty's position but also brought a substantial infusion of funds into the Kingdom of Potenzia. In return, House de Leon provided soldiers and military assistance in the proclamation of Tuscana as a sovereign state under the rule of House Medici. This union has remained strong, forging a close bond between Tuscana and Potenzia, based on economic ties, cultural affinity, and shared values. The Royal House of Medici wields significant economic and political influence, not only in Tuscana but also within the borders of Potenzia itself.

Territorial Expansion

In the mid-20th century, the Potenzian Empire achieved territorial expansion by acquiring The Principality of Balearica, an archipelago off the eastern coast of mainland Potenzia. This expansion was realized through the marriage of King Tomás XII and Queen Marcia, as established by the Treaty of Union.

Political Unions

In 2014, another significant development occurred when The Grand Duchy of Larsai entered into a political union with Potenzia. This union resulted from the marriage of Grand Duke Keeth and Princess Carolina, giving birth to Princess Kaia and bringing Larsai under the banner of the Potenzian Kingdom.

Contemporary Leadership and Succession

Today, the Imperio of Potenzia stands as a vast and environmentally stunning commonwealth, celebrated for its geographical and cultural diversity. The empire's architecture, characterized by medieval, Mediterranean-style influences, along with its elegant museums, concert halls, and a notable interest in space exploration, reflect its vibrant and dynamic character. Currently, the empire is led by Emperor Alán de León and Empress Ërl’u Hjardustěr, the former Princess-Regent of Sulasburg.
