Powers
The Parliament of Port Myreal is the legislative branch of the political system of Port Myreal. Although most legislation is initiated by the government, the Parliament considers the legislative function its most important responsibility, concentrating much of its energy on assessing and amending the government's legislative program. The Parliament supervises the activities of the executive branch on issues of both substantive policy and routine administration.
Election
Elections are held every three years; there are no term limits.
149 MPs (regional MPs) are elected by using the D'Hondt method. The other 50 seats (list MPs) are distributed in a way to achieve proportional representation. The Parliament has a minimum threshold of either 3% of the national vote or one regional representative for a political group (an electoral alliance or a single party) to gain additional representation.
