The Port Ember Security Forces (PESF) is the official and legal armed forces of the Republic of Port Ember.

The PESF consists out of five armed Services, namely the Port Ember Navy; Port Ember Marines; Port Ember Army; Port Ember Air Force and Task Force 79.

HISTORY

The Port Ember Security Forces is a fairly new armed force, being established in its current form, only 69 years ago in 1950, when Port Ember gained its Independence from Great Britian.

Port Ember's military history however, dates much further back than 1950. Todays PESF traces its origins, culture and history from the ancient and defunct Ember Island Kingdom, the Copperbeard Consortium (a united band of pirates) and the British Empire Armed Forces.

STRUCTURE

The Port Ember Security Forces is commanded by its Commander In Chief (CIC), who is the democratically elected President of the Republic. He/she delegates responsibility to the Department of Defence (DOD), led by the Minister of Defence. The daily command and control is then delegated to The Chief Security Forces (with the rank of Marshal, comparable to NATO OF10). The Security Forces is then divided into five services who directly awnsers to the Chief Security Forces.

MANDATE

The PESF's main focus and objectives is the following:

- Defend the nations sovreign border and her citizens (Tied as Priority 1)

- Defend the nations Territorial and Economic Exlusive Zone (Tied as Priority 1).

- Defend Free Market Trading with foreign nations by defending Port Ember shipping interests world wide.

- Enforce the governments foreign policy where diplomacy has failed.

- Support allied nations sovreignity and trade interests militarily where deemed neccesary by the government.

- Support foreign nations in terms of supplies and training where deemed neccesary by the government.

- Combat international terrorism.

- Disaster Relief / Humanitarian Relief

- Defend Port Ember's Colony of Braziliztan and its people.

HISTORY

The Port Ember Navy traces its origins from the Copperbeard Consortuim - the group of pirates who ran the island in the 1600's - 1700's, and later the Royal British Navy which was anchored at Ember Island during the British colonial period.

Port Ember has a naval history spanning almost 800 hundred years, most of which included raider and piracy era's.

The modern Port Ember Navy was officialy eatablished when Port Ember gained its independence from Great Britian in 1950.

The navy of today has strong cultural and traditional ties with the British Navy, mixed with a unique Port Ember culture of raiders and piracy, unique to a modern and civilised navy.

The navy is the most senior of the armed services and highest funded of all. The navy is not an extremely large force, but is still seen as one of the most capable and pioneering navies in the world.

ORGANISATION

The navy is commanded by the Chief Navy, with the rank of Admiral (comparable to NATO OF9), from the office of Naval Command located at the Security Forces House; Lilly Black Borough; Port Ember Megalopolis. The Chief Navy reports directly to Chief Security Forces.

There is five Flotillas subordinate to Naval Command:

Dragon Flotilla

The Dragon Flotilla is the naval force whose main responsibility lies in defending the Republics Territorial waters and Exlusive Economic Zone from foreign aggression, piracy and to ensure unobstructed free trade within its area of influence. This Flotilla is seen as the first line of defence against foreign aggresion against the island nation of Port Ember, both in terms of actions of war and for law enforcement purposes, replacing the need for a dedicated Coast Guard agency.

The name of Dragon Flotilla was chosen as it symbolises the great power of the mythical creature, and its willingness to defend its treasure.

The Flotilla is commanded by a Vice Admiral (comparable to NATO OF8), and is the second highest ranking post of the Port Ember Navy.

Dragon Flotilla command is located at Fort Komodo, an actual Harbour Fort build in the 1600's, which overlooks Komodo Bay, in the Waterstad Borough; Port Ember Megalopolis.

The following ships forms part of this flotilla:
- 4 x Destroyer - Lilly Black Class DDG
- 8 x Frigates - Orca Class FF
- 4 x Submarines Type 176 "Sea Wolf Class"
- 60 x Patrol Missile Boats Jolly Roger Class PM
- 20 x Cutters - Justice Class OPC

Expidtionary Strikeforce Flotilla's

There is 4 x independant Expiditionary Strikeforce Flotillas in service within the navy. This Flotillas is intended to project power worldwide and serve as part of a expidtionary force when required. The four Flotillas are named Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Flotilla respectively (after the geographical area in which they are responsible, with Ember Island as the centre). Each flotilla is composed of the same ships and is each commanded by a Commodore (OF6). The following ships serves in an individual Flotilla:

- 2 x Amphibious Assault Ship - Pelican Class LHD
(30 x Helicopters each)

The marines is commanded by the Chief Marine with the rank of General (comparable to NATO OF9), from the office of Marine Command located at the Security Forces House; Lilly Black Borough; Port Ember Megalopolis. The Chief Marine reports directly to Chief Security Forces.

There is ten Marine Forces subordinate to Marine Command, named Marine Force Alpha; Marine Force Bravo; Marine Force Charlie; Marine Force Delta (Permanent Force) and Marine Force Echo; Foxtrot; Golf; Hotel; India and Juliet (Reserve Force).

Marine Force

The Combat element which is deployed during operations is called a Marine Force. A Marine Force is commanded by a Brigadier General. Each Force is structured to 5000 personnel

All Marine Forces is composed out of the following elements:

- Force Headquarters (Consists out of the Commander and his Operations Centre)

- Force Logistics (Consists out of Personnel Management; Logistical Ressuply Elements; Light Worskshop Troop -Vehicle Mechanics; Signallers; Rations Elements)

- Force Level Mobile Artillery Battery (20 x Mobile Artillery vehicles)

- Force Level Armoured Fighting Vehicle Squadron (50 x Armoured Fighting Vehicles)

- Force Level Armour Squadron (50 x Light Battle Tanks)

- Force Level Anti Air Battery (20 x Mobile Anti Air Vehicles)

- Force Level Sniper Squadron (20 x Sniper Teams)

- Force Level Tactical Intelligence Squadron

- 3 x Marine Battalion Groups (of which 1 is dedicated Air Mobile, however all is trained in this role)

The Regular Fighting Marine Stick:
- Each Regular stick is comprised out of 5 Marines. They are equiped as follows:
- 1 x Armored Personnel Carrier Vehicle.
- 3 x Rifleman equiped with an Assualt Rifle.
- 1 x Marksman equiped with an Dedicated Marksman Rifle.
- 1 x Machinegunner equiped with an Light Machine Gun
- All 5 Marines is equiped with an Man portable Anti Tank launcher.
- 1 x Marine is additionally equiped with an Man Portable Anti Air Missile.

A Marine Battalion is consisted out of:

The Marines are structured and armed to be a light, extremely mobile and flexible force. The Marines attack rapidly without mercy, and is equiped with the main focus of ripping apart enemy armor.

Regiments

The Regiments is the Army's basic administrative and tactical unit. Each Regiment is an independant fighting force, but falls under the command of a higher Division. Each Regiment is totally housed together, and deploys together during operations. The following types of Regiments exists:

- Air Landed Regiment
- Motorised Regiment
- Mechanised Regiment
- Armoured Regiment

Each Regiment consists out of 5000 personnel.

Divisions

A Divison is a administrative and tactical grouping consisting out of Division Command, and 1 of each type of Regiments.

Each Division consists out of of 25 000 personnel.

Total Strength of the Army

- Permanent Force:
The Permanent Force comprises out of 04 Divisions, which is each comprised out of 04 Regiments. This totals 100 000 personnel.

- Reserve Force:
The Reserve Force comprises out of 02 Divisions, which is each comprised out of 04 Regiments. This totals 50 000 personnel.

- Colonial Force:
The Colonial Forces of Braziliztan comprises out of 02 Divisions, each comprising out of 04 Regiments. This totals 50 000 personnel.

Therefore the total strength is 200 000 personnel.

Conclusion

The Army is structured to be a highly flexible force, capable to operate in any theatre known to man and heavily armed to be able to defeat any opponent, whether in the open, entrenched and fortified or in a urban landscape.

There is four Air bases situates in Port Ember, one in each mahor city, making it two on North Island and two on south Island. Each air base houses appropriate tactical air wings; along with the appropriate administrative and maintenance units.

CONCLUSION

The Air Force is structured to be highly effective at sovreign airspace defence, and effective at air support missions for own forces on foreign soil. Furthermore, as an island nation, the air force is forced to be masters at long range resupply missions, which they are extremely effective at.

The Task Force 79 is the special forces branch of the Security Forces, making it unique as it is an independant arms of service and not part of another larger arm as in other nations.

ORGANISATION

The Army is commanded by the Chief Special Operations with the rank of General (comparable to NATO OF9), from the office of Special Forces Command located at the Security Forces House; Lilly Black Borough; Port Ember Megalopolis. The Chief Special Operations reports directly to Chief Security Forces.

The Task Force 79 is divided into Special Operations Units, each specialising in specific operations.

- Commando Unit

The Commando Unit is the largest unit within Task Force 79 and is known to conduct the larger types of operations. The unit specialises in the following types of operations:

- Direct Action
- High Risk Raids
- High Value Offensive Actions
- Large Scale Guerilla Warfare
- Mobility Operations
- Airborne Operations

- Bishop's Scouts Unit

The Bishop's Scouts unit is the unit whom focuses on intelligence gathering, both on tactical and covert levels. They specialise in the following types of operations:

- Special Reconnaisance
- Tactical Intelligence Gathering
- Real Time Target Aquisition Operations
- Infiltration Operations
- 'Flip' Operations

- Liberatioz Unit

This unit of the Task Force 79 specialises in Foreign Internal Defence, Counter Insurgency Operations and Unconventional Warfare. They specialise in the following types of operations:

- Training foreign Defence Forces or insurgencies in conventional and/or unconventional warfare.

- Training Foreign Special Forces units.

- Training Counter Insurgency Operators

- Conducting Counter Insurgency Operations

- Conducting/training/countering unconventional warfare, including pshycological warfare and Hearts & Minds missions.

- Counter Terrorist Unit

The Counter Terrorist unit is the unit whom focuses on combatting modern day terrorism, both domestically and abroad. They specialise in the following types of operations:

- Tactical Opperations against terrorists.

- Establishing and maintaining information networks.

- Terror cells infiltration.

- Close Protection for VIP's in high risk areas.

- Training foreign CT units.

- Assistance to local police in high risk operarions and hostage rescue domestically.

- Hostage Rescue

- Special Supply Unit

The Special Supply unit is the unit whom focuses on tactical logistics. They specialise in the following types of operations:

- High Risk resupply to deployed units.

- Establishment of high risk supply chains.

- Establishment of high risk supply routes.

- Foreign training and advisory teams.

- Training Unit

The Training unit is the unit whom focuses on training Task Force 79 operators, whether they are new recruits via the selection process, or if they are qualified operators being trained and qualified for their specified units. The selection process is notorious for being one of the most difficult and gruelling processes of its kind.

- Research Unit

This unit does not deploy operators to the field, but is in command of all research projects, including new tactics, strategies, equipment, weapons or vehicles.

CONCLUSION

The Task Force 79 is highly secretive and not much is known regarding their exact composition or tactics and especially their past operations.

What is known however, is that they have proven themselves to be amongst the greatest special forces units in the world, and is rightly feared by their enemies.

A few factors which have made them so highly effective is their gruellingly difficult training, vast combat experience and training adaptability. It is reported that they have trained with and adopted and modified the doctrines of most of the worlds best special forces units, from nations such as: USA; UK; France; Germany; Spain; Italy; Netherlands; Russia; South Africa; Rhodesia; Egypt; Israel; Brazil to name only a few.

Task Force 79 has been rumoured to have beem deployed to many nations and conflicts, yet remains unconfirmed due to its secrecy. A few conflicts which have been confirmed by the government includes:
