The Republic of Peppercoast is a gargantuan, efficient nation, ruled by President Ellen Schirlaf with an even hand, and remarkable for its free-roaming dinosaurs, irreverence towards religion, and spontaneously combusting cars. The hard-nosed, hard-working, humorless population of 17.606 billion Peppercoastians are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The minute, corrupt, pro-business government, or what there is of one, is effectively ruled by the Department of Industry, with Law & Order also on the agenda, while Environment and Welfare receive no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mesurado. Income tax is unheard of.

The frighteningly efficient Peppercoastian economy, worth a remarkable 3,944 trillion Pepper-Marks a year, is driven almost entirely by the private sector, which is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Gambling, Automobile Manufacturing, and Retail. Average income is an amazing 224,020 Pepper-Marks, but there is a vast disparity between incomes, with the richest 10% of citizens earning 1,956,521 per year while the poor average 3,938, a ratio of 496 to 1.

Smog in Mesurado is so bad that fresh air bottles are sold by street vendors, employees are told they can avoid traffic jams by starting work at 4 AM, a burger chain recently changed its name to Mack Donaldz for legal reasons, and the new "Bloodbath" orange tree autonomously seeks and destroys independent orchards. Crime, especially youth-related, is a major problem, with the police force struggling against a lack of funding and a high mortality rate. Peppercoast's national animal is the elephant, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Peppercoast is ranked 144,903rd in the world and 58th in Africa for Most Stationary, with 180.6048496906 days.
