The parties represented in the Senate today are listed below (in alphabetical order). The current number of Senators is given in parentheses. The parties are listed from largest to smallest.

GOVERNMENT

Liberal Democratic Alliance - LDA (42)
Formed from the old Democratic Alliance and the Liberal Democrats. Strong proponent of free market economy, small federal government, decentralized administration for the more autonomous Provincial Senates. Quite liberal on social issues. Very pro-EU, encourages immigration.

Liberal Center Party - LCP (34)
Was the largest party in the government before the formation of the Liberal Democratic Alliance. Economically leftist-centrist, liberal stance to social issues. Holds a middle-ground position to the autonomy of provinces.

Green Alliance - GA (26)
An umbrella of several formerly independent green parties. Strong emphasis on environmental protection and renewable energy sources. Socially liberal.

Olive Branch - OB (24)
Left-leaning pacifist party. Calls for strong international cooperation to support human rights and democratic development all around the globe. Very environmentally aware. Opposes all military and branches of industry with military applications. Vocally pro-EU. Does not approve economical (or any other kind of) cooperation with oppressive or militaristic regimes.

Federalists - FED (21)
Formerly Federal Democratic Coalition. Favours strong federal government over the local Provincial Senates. Supports Keynesian economic system. Considered to be a right-leaning centrist party.

OPPOSITION

The New Left - NL (17)
Formed from the Democratic Socialists and the Social Democratic Party. Has become somewhat Eurosceptic as of late following Pax Aurea's entrance to the European Economic Community. Supports extensive welfare state, large Federal Government, tightly regulated business life. Socially progressive. Speaks also for more autonomous Provincial Senates.

National Coalition - NC (17)
The major conservative party of Pax Aurea. Defends the Aurean traditions and values in the ever-changing modern world. Economically right-wing. Somewhat suspicious of the EU membership. Calls for more "independence" on the international field.

Thalassocratic Party - TP (9)
The Aurean equivalent of the agricultural/farmer/countryside party of many nations. Enjoys popularity mainly among those employed by the aquacultural industry and shipping companies. Defenses national tariffs to protect local industry. Strong supporter of Aurean unions, provincial autonomy.

Christian Democrats - CD (6)
Moderately conservative in social issues, right-leaning centrist in economical issues. Emphasizes the importance of family. Due to the diversity of Aurean religious field, has become less vocally "Christian" over the years.

Diversity Alliance - DA (3)
Leftist libertarian party. Defends the cosmopolitan nature of the Aurean society: multiculturalism, multiethnicity, religious plurality. Confederate views on provincial autonomy.

Aurean Communist Party (2)
The only full-blooded Communist party of Pax Aurea. Supports the nationalization of all industry and domestic corporations.

Pars Romana (1)
The flagbearer of the ancient values and traditions. Family, honour, and duty come first. Supports a strong centralized government. The most conservative of the current Senate parties. Many members follow the old Roman pantheon of gods. Vocally populistic, calls for resignation from the EU.
