The United Socialist States of Karlovich is a huge, orderly nation, renowned for its public floggings, enslaved workforce, and state-planned economy. The hard-nosed, cynical, devout population of 394 million Russians are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

The medium-sized, corrupt, moralistic, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Law & Order. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Moscow. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 43.9%.

The all-consuming Russian economy, worth 42.9 trillion Rubles a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. However, for those in the know, there is a large, well-organized, broadly diversified black market in Arms Manufacturing, Information Technology, Uranium Mining, and Automobile Manufacturing. The private sector mostly consists of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, but the government is looking at stamping this out. Average income is an impressive 108,957 Rubles, with the richest citizens earning 5.5 times as much as the poorest.

Childhood friends of Leader are living it large abroad at the taxpayers' expense, a citizen who thinks a slave is a deadbeat is entitled to make the descriptor literally true, the nation's soldiers are considered the best-dressed in United States of UBG, and the new Really Big Telescope has been praised for presenting pictures of bright dots in unprecedented detail. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Karlovich's national animal is the Smirnoff, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation.

Karlovich is ranked 162,839th in the world and 20th in United States of UBG for Most Inclusive, scoring 32.78 on the Mandela-Wollstonecraft Non-Discrimination Index.
