The Military History/Modern History of Greater Ismir

*note: This is all the research of my military history put into this factbook. Some of these are based off what I remember. Every time an Izmiri war starts or ends, I make a new section.

Wintherian Civil War/Prussian Invasion

To be honest, I didn't really do much in the war. We helped push back the Prussians and pierce their defenses in Italy, and we did a Czech campaign, which was basically the Izmiri army helping Dictatorya (and maybe some others) push back the Prussians in the Czech region. That turned out well. I also linked up with Combine forces to take Berlin.

Great Combine War

This war.... certainly was a big, great one that changed the course of my country.
On December 10th, 2020 (estimated time 10:00), Neo-combine declared war on the world. Many countries immediately collapsed, while some governments collapsed, and the military kept fighting. Greater Ismir was at peace, until we weren't. Grand empire of prussiawished to buy some million barrels of oil from us. We accepted, but then a man from Dictatorya named Ivan Lawrence tried to sabotage the trade. Luckily, he was gunned down by an Izmiri soldier before he could do anything bad. Right now, Sultan Türkyilmaz was absolutely horrified about Neo-combine sending their best units. Sultan Türkyilmaz had a gun to his head. If things ever got worse, he would shoot himself. Dictatorya eventually started to blow up trains in Arabia, hurting our economy. The Portal Storms from earlier that day started pumping out Combine alien military units. Sultan Türkyilmaz knew he had enough. He pointed the pistol to his head, and comitted suicide. Eventually, previous sultan, Metin Basaran, was put as leader again. But even Basaran was so horrified and scared about the chaos in and about his country. Basaran told his guards: "Guards, if I say I am committing, just give me a bayonet to the head..." Meanwhile, Neo-combine was having an easy time conquering the Balkans, and Dictatorya blew up another train in Arabia, and financed the Arabs to revolt. Grand empire of prussia requested if they can set up troops in my lands for a massive push in the Balkans. We accepted. Soon, Dictatorya sent a man named George Petrović to help with the guerillas, but we knew him as Karađorđe. Karađorđe was apparently a Serbian revolutionary, fighting for independence from the Ottomans in the 1800's. Dictatorya financed another man named Athanasios Diakos, a Greek, to rebel against us. Basaran decided that was the last straw for his rule as sultan. He asked a Sultan's Guard for the gun with a bayonet he had stored. When the guards gave it to him, he committed suicide, stabbing himself with the bayonet in the head. The Sultan's Guards actually had tons of sultan replacements for this situation, and they chose Sultan Diyadin. Diyadin proposed to close the country, like the 1600's Japan. Grand empire of prussia tried to get us to keep fighting, but Diyadin said: "Prussia, I can't even fight these aliens and Combine troops with my current army. I have no choice but to close the country." Since Basaran committed suicide, Diyadin wanted to finish the previous sultan's plans of building up defenses around the country. Grand empire of prussia started a blitzkreig from Greece, eventually taking back Bulgaria and Romania with their panzers. Meanwhile, Neo-combine took the Caucasus, Iran, and bombarding Arabia. By now, Dictatorya was starting to fail. Izmiri volunteers and Prussian Stormtroopers tried to stop the Combine advance into the Caucasus. Sultan Diyadin realized, that they had to do something about the Combine invading everywhere. So he took a breath, and said "I don't really want to fight if my army will die all in one battle... but sometimes you just have to do it... so here we go." Prussia gave us some of their finest rifles, and we were ready to strike. Izmiri troops started to defeat the Arabs, while a Special Egyptian force in Alexandria, push the Arabs out of cities, taking Cairo along the way. Prussian troops started taking Hungary, while the people Dictatorya financed to help/rebel were being killed, or something else. Neo-Combine then said "Inhabitants of earth, we will give you one chance to surrender. Surrender or be annihilated." We refused to surrender, so Neo-Combine started Phase 2. All storms emitted another shockwave, pushing back many soldiers. The storms reopen and more aliens pour out. Suddenly, Greater Ismir was hit by a projectile from space. The projectiles were shots fired from space. Dictatorya was pretty much in bankruptcy. They spent 280 trillion Konvertible Marks. Diyadin was horrified and scared about Phase 2. So he grabbed a knife that would usually be used for sepukku, and committed suicide. All the 36 emergency replacements for sultan all wanted to commit suicide now. So one by one, the Sultan's Guards passed down the knife, letting the replacements kill themselves. By now, Neo-Combine had taken almost all of the world. We still wouldn't surrender though. After a while, Direnç Osman was appointed as the sultan by the Sultan's Guards. Luckily, Direnç Osman did not commit suicide. In fact, he has been ruling since then! Neo-Combine gave us one last chance to surrender. I knew what would happen if I didn't surrender, so I finally gave up. Neo-Combine said they would free all nations tomorrow, so that would be all good. Meanwhile, some nations had fled to Sardovia. But eventually, they came back to Greater Cyngland.

The 10th Crusade

A few days before this new crusade, Kivanç Osman heard something about a new crusade. Now, he didn’t clearly remember exactly what they said, but he clearly was not fond of a 10th Crusade, so he readied his troops. A few days later, they came. Bernavale and Saint-Gregory launched a crusade. Oh boy, will this be rough. Only Bernavale and their protectorate, Saint-Gregory were the Crusaders. Almost everybody else was on my side, which proved to not do much during the Crusade. Saint-Gregory landed in crete and the Balkans, while Bernavale landed in the Holy Land and Alexandria. While we thought that we could drive Bernavale out of Alexandria, they had over 2 million troops waiting there for us. Also, Saint-Gregory started supporting rebel groups, and soon, they rised up. From the Balkans to Iran, from Alexandria to Afghanistan, everything was chaos. And all we tried, we just could not push back the rebel groups and crusaders. But then, some of the worst crimes of the war were done. Muslims were killed, and hanged, and worst of all, this is what every family saw on TV. Kivanç Osman just couldn't take it anymore. He stabbed himself to death. The new sultan was Kiraz Osman, who wanted peace. So the Treaty of Jerusalem was signed. The country was froced to give up Sinai, Israel, Jordan, Southern Syria, and Lebanon to the Regnum Hierosolymitanum, parts of Turkey surrounding Nëo-İstanbül to Pale Constantinople, and the Balkans to the rebels, except Bulgaria and Romania.

Michaliavian Civil War and Michaliavian-Digerian War

We lent 10,000 Imperial Guards to aid in the Battle of Backadosiá. Osman was also with them, visiting the city. Unfortunately, he was captured after his Imperial Guards were destroyed by 100,000 Grand michaliavian soldiers. But, a friendly ambush saved him, and he escaped to Nëö-İstanbül. That was all the help he could lend to Michaliav in the civil war. But soon, Digerian wanted Michaliavian India, and you can probably guess where this is going. Michaliav soon declared war on Digerian. We soon joined the war but agreed to leave as soon as Digerian disabled our TIE fighters. Soon after, we joined the war again but left shortly after due to reasons not disclosed by the Sultan.

11th Crusade
So, unexpectedly, The Lonely Peak of a Forgotten Mountain tried to form a NATO, left, and after a series of events to elaborate/confusing to talk about right now, Federative woodstock declares war on me. They start invading by surprise, taking all of Arabia up to Gazantiep, Hatay, and other points at the border of Anatolia and Arabia. Soon after, the Izmiri army was alerted and got straight to the front. At the same time, the TFA rebelled in Armenia, which is a slight problem. The Izmiri troops at the front dug trenches, and artillery was transported to rain down shells on the enemy Woodstockians. Once the artillery got there, the damage was really being dealt. Some 4 Izmiri forces at the Battle of Hatay were so confident that they could get to the enemy trenches, that they lead an assault, which was unsuccessful. Soon after, enemy CAS and strategic bombers got into the area and wrecked everything. All Izmiri soldiers ran for their lives, as the officers shouted that Hatay was unsuccessful. It is estimated 240,000 men were lost at the battle of Hatay. To our surprise, after we got out of the trenches and into the cities, we were attacked by ATFA soldiers. It turns out that almost all of Anatolia and the Caucasus were occupied by the AFTA, as well as Cyprus. The royal family, now realizing this, were escorted by some 100 Imperial Guard out of the Palace, to Ankara, and from there, they took a boat to The Lonely Peak of a Forgotten Mountain. And with that, Temporary Sultan Bülent Torun took over, and he announced the surrender of Greater Ismir.

Tikmarfaghaz
Everything was fine in Greater Ismir. Until the madman dictator, Yaşar Kiraç, staged a coup d'etat and assassinated the sultan. Now he ruled Greater Ismir. He wanted to reunify all the lost lands that Greater Ismir once had. So, he marched with the 20,000 Imperial Guards to West Istanbul, where there was an occupation by the Republicans. He set up just 1 artillery piece's range away from the Hagia Sophia. And they stayed there. Eventually, Yaşar Kiraç ordered a field gun be sent to their position. Just hours after it was sent, the Republican navy started patrolling the occupation. Then the unexpected happened. The field gun was accidentally fired, without it aiming at anything. Then tragedy struck. They crumbled the Hagia Sophia. They quickly ran away into the night, never to come back there. After that, the Republicans burnt down any Islamic structures and rounded up Islamic men just to kill them. Yaşar Kiraç snapped, and he sent one million infantry, ten thousands of artillery, and the Dagdelen Super-Heavy Tank to Lebanon Province. The tank fired, signaling the charge into the Republican Holy Land. The charge was successful, and after it, a civil war started in the mainland of The Lonely Peak of a Forgotten Mountain. This was the Tikmarfaghaz, translating to "Reconquest" in Izmiri Turkish.

The Fall of Aster
Regions fall. I’ve seen two of them go by like that. But in those cases, we’ve had another region to migrate to. But this time, Aster fell without a migratory region. The nations from Aster were scattered. I had nowhere to go, so, I went to The Rejected Realms. I would spend about a month or two there, going to the small regions other nations were in for a day, then going back to The Rejected Realms. There was an attempt to reunite all the nations into a Cynglish region, but that went nowhere. Soon, I decided to join Sanctum. Soon, it became somewhat active. I decided to stay there, and I am still there, after a few weeks.

The 12th Crusade
I was not there to experience the Twelfth Crusade. But I was told that some kind of NATO was formed. Or at least that’s what I was told. I barely remember what they told me. Besides that, overall this was a bad crusade, 1/10, didn’t even get Nëö-İstanbül taken from me.

The Protestors at the Palace
On December 22nd, 2022, as the Christian parts of Istanbul were getting ready for a week’s break from work, a protest emerged that surrounded the East İstanbül Sultan’s Palace. The protesters were republicans who demanded the Imperial Sultanate be abolished and a democratic system be put into place. 5,000 Imperial Guard surrounded the Palace and made sure the Sultan, his family, and the others in there were safe. Let's see what happens ne... ya kahretsatuq the power went out for four and a half days. And in that time, the protests turned into mass riots. In Nëö-İstanbül, amidst the mass riots all over the city, a shot is heard. Soon, a rioter falls to his knees with a gunshot wound in his chest, then to the ground. Then the entire squad joins in the fun! An armed faction of the rioters shoot up the Imperial Guard and make it so nobody can leave. Bahtiyar hides in the basement and support weapons are brought to Nëö-İstanbül. After Bahtiyar Osman begins his long gaming session in the basement until the palace is safe, Akara Yazar is elected as Temporary Sultan. He frees the Armenian ethnicity, and sends more armor and infantry to the palace. This is escalating quickly! When the combined arms arrive at the city, there are, and I kid you not, missiles in the sky. What in the kahretsatuq? Anyways, the war quickly escalated into two sides, Greater Izmir, Monolithium and Flohuania, and Neo-Combine and the rebels. Then, it happened. Bahtiyar Osman, sultan of the Imperial Sultanate of Greater Izmir, was shot in the chrome dome with a 12-gauge by a rebel while playing Hearts of Iron IV on his computer. His laptop was stolen by those damn republicans, returned because, and I quote “it was a literal potato,” and sent to a museum in Konya. A new laptop was ordered from Neo-Combine, and it got f*cking stolen by the Republicans. God damn it. One million Izmiri soldiers (a freaking quarter of the entire army) arrived in Nëö-İstanbül and shot up the hell out of the rebels. And, yatagan... no... yet again, they made missiles from stolen blueprints. Ya kahretsatuq, we don't even make that much missles! Where you get these from mia amiko? Anyways, we won the battle promptly on March 5th, 2023, after some million infantry and 3 super-heavy tanks rolled over a thousand armored cars, plus a few horses each equipped with swords or lances, a Russian 1895 lever-action, 2 light anti-tank grenades, and a gas mask. Don’t question it, okay? After that, the region proceeded to get drier than the Sahara and Arabian Deserts combined. Even drier than a Popeyes biscuit. And then the rp ended and I think I won. Damn.
