The Kalranian League of Nations is an international organization, hailing from the City State of Cenagrad. The League is led by the Secretary-General, and member-states of the League occupy various positions within the structure of the Organization. Member-nations within the League can engage in tribalism or work together to address worldwide issues.

How do I join the LoN? The majority of our roleplay votes take place on THTHI's Discord server. If you want to join you will need to be in the discord server as well. If you are already in the discord just ask Roleplay Moderator Cenagrad (Discord name is Cena) to let you in.

What is the League of Nations and what is it about? The League of Nations is a diplomatic forum designed to facilitate international diplomacy and regional roleplay that is more mature in nature. The goal is to develop our regional RP style beyond just war based/conflict RP.

Can I join alliances and still be in the LoN? Yes, you can be in alliances and the LoN at the same time. The LoN isn't an alliance, nor will it help defend you in your wars under normal circumstances.

I want to submit a resolution banning something to the LoN for all its members, can I do that? No, the LoN doesn’t have the power to influence the affairs of nations directly through resolutions, resolutions are not laws and will not be considered such because the LoN does not have the authority to rule over its member states as it is not a world government.

Can I be elected to more than one position in the LoN? Yes, you can be elected to multiple positions in the LoN.

League of Nations History (2036-Modern Day)
Founding (2036)
The original League of Nations was a diplomatic initiative established in Cenagrad in the year 2036 with a goal of fostering diplomatic cooperation across Kalrania. The foundation of the organization was developed on the idea that anything the LoN passes was voluntary and that the organization was not intended to serve as a world government, at least not originally.

Creation of LoN Peacekeeping Force (2036-2037)
Six months after the LoN's founding, The desert badlands sponsored a resolution to create a peacekeeping force within the LoN. The resolution ultimately ended up passing. This brought about decades of uncertainty, as the LoN insisted the troops couldn't be deployed without the full support of the recipient nation but skeptical nations saw it as a step closer to a world government.

First Attempted Removal of Permanent Security Council Seats (2046)
The first widely divisive LoN charter amendment to be voted on took place ten years after the establishment of the LoN. Khosrau, with backing from Redpeppers, Werewolf Islands, The Atomic Schism and Dwarf land4 brought a charter amendment to the General Assembly seeking to abolish the permanent Security Council seats. The amendment failed to pass the two-thirds approval required to adopt charter amendments and was subsequently abandoned.

Crisis in Polfishland (2046-2051)
In 2046 the Rushkarian Council requested that LoN peacekeeping troops be deployed to restore order and halt Evacasiaian troops from commiting war crimes. Several months later the Security Council voted to intervene in Polfishland. At first the intervention was successful with LoN forces successfully halting hostilities along the border region in Polfishland. Over time however both Polfishland and Evacasia took advantage of the main weakness of the LoN, its lack of authority to enforce. 2050 and 2051 saw large scale resumption of hostilities. The Secretary General at the time, Cenagrad decided to cut the LoN's losses as both sides were neglecting the LoN's Ceasefire Mandate. This event exposes one of the biggest flaws in the original LoN. For any reduction of tension to be successful, it has to be something both sides of the conflict actually want. The Polfishland Crisis is widely considered a diplomatic and humanitarian failure.

Second Attempted Removal of Permanent Security Council Seats (2055)
A second attempt was made to abolish the permanent Security Council seats nine years later in 2055. Khosrau with backing from Whicistaion, Oh-my-god particles, Elpadia, Schwypia, Werewolf Islands, Villadolia, Platininum, Analulu, Dwarf land4, The Atomic Schism and Evacasia proposed a charter amendment to remove the permanent Security Council seats. This effort failed to pass the two-thirds approval required to adopt charter amendments and was subsequently abandoned.

Establishment of Department Chair Terms (2059)
In 2059 a charter amendment was proposed to set terms to the department level positions in the LoN which up to that point had no official terms specified in the original LoN charter. The amendment also proposed that the Security Council be granted the power to remove a department chair pending a two-thirds vote. The amendment, sponsored by Cenagrad with backing from Redpeppers passed the two-thirds majority required to pass charter amendments and the amendment was subsequently written into the original LoN Charter.

Creation of the Department of International Trade (2062)
Durring Redpeppers time as Secretary General they developed a plan for a new department named the Department of International Trade(DIT). The goal of the department was to set up monetary exchange hubs around the world as well as mediate trade disputes if asked. Redpeppers did not end up establishing the department before Cenagrad was re-elected as Secretary General but the department was established under the latter.

Impeachment and Removal of the 8th Secretary General (2075-2077)
In 2074, new League member Kroraina was elected Secretary General in a shocking upset over longtime Secretary General Cenagrad. The Secretary General was smart and competent however, around a year into their term they vanished from the LoN delegation and no delegate was able to contact them. The Secretary General in the Old LoN was also responsible for bringing resolutions to the General Assembly so without them the LoN couldn't pass resolutions. Recognizing this, impeachment proceedings were drafted and sponsored by Cenagrad with support from Archron empire, Central state of kowen and Schwypia. The Impeachment resolution was unanimously approved by the General Assembly. The Security Council unanimously approved to remove the Secretary General a few months later. Rumanian States was chosen as an interim Secretary General to fulfill the remaining year before the Secretary General Election in the beginning of 2078.

International Criminal Court Charter Amendment and reorganization into the Geopolitical Advisory Board (2081)
In 2081 Dwarf land4 backed by Northern new solingarch, Archron empire, Rekken, Nonadia and Ascoiya submitted a charter amendment proposing the creation of an LoN International Criminal Court. The amendment actually passed the two-thirds requirement but was subsuqently blocked from being written into the charter by the Secretary General, Cenagrad. The Secretary General stressed that the LoN couldn't weigh judgement over member nations as it had no power of its own, nor the ability to enforce its verdicts. The Charter Amendment was subsequently rewritten and brought back to the General Assembly for a revote. Instead of an International Criminal Court, Cenagrad and Dwarf land4 backed by Archron empire, Rekken and Central state of kowen proposed the creation of the Geopolitical Advisory Board. The revised amendment passed and was subsuqently written into the original LoN Charter.

Attemped Establishment of Electable Position Limits (2082)
In an attempt to split power from a number of delegates who were continuously being elected to several positions in the LoN Evacasia, with backing from Cenagrad, Kisawan and Northern new solingarch submitted a charter amendment that attempted to limit the amount of positions a single delegate could hold to two. The amendment failed to meet the two-thirds majority required to pass charter amendments and was subsequently abandoned.

Attempt to deescalate tensions between Ponticianre and Ardalriyah (2088)
In 2088, relations deteriorated between Ponticianre and Ardalriyah to the point that it looked like war was imminent. In an attempt to avoid the conflict, Northern new solingarch with backing from Cenagrad proposed a resolution requesting that diplomats be sent to Ponticianre. The nation of Ardalriyah collapsed during the General Assembly vote however, so the vote was ended prematurely as war was no longer likely.

Establishment of LoN Fallback Bunkers (2089)
The Letanrican Federation between New cadaria, Evve terre and Cenagrad collapsed between 2088 and 2089 leaving the City State of Cenagrad without a defending military to protect it. In an ironic twist of fate, the Cenagradian intelligence community received credible intel that there were talks of Evve terre possibly invading the island. Other League members recognized the significance of a possible invasion of the Leagues HQ and took action. Dwarf land4 and Ascoiya backed by Khosrau submitted a resolution requesting the creation of fallback bunkers should LoN Headquarters in Cenagrad ever fall. The resolution passed and fallback bunkers were designated in Khosrau, Archron empire and the Rumanian States. The locations of these bunkers were seen as slightly controversial at the time because they all were located in a single alliance, The Accord. In the end, Cenagrad was never invaded by Evve terre.

Establishment of Secretary General Consecutive Term Limits (2089-2090)
Cenagrad had been the Secretary General of the LoN for the majority of its existence, barring breaks where Redpeppers and Kroraina were elected to the office. Recognizing this, Khosrau, with backing from Schwypia, Central state of kowen and Elpadia submitted a charter amendment proposing the creation of consecutive term limits for the Secretary General. The amendment passed the two-thirds majority required to pass amendments and was subsuqently written into the original LoN Charter. In the 2090 Elections because Cenagrad was term limited Khosrau became the first elected Secretary General other than Cenagrad in over 10 years.

PotV Viral Outbreak and LoN Assistance (2092-2094)
The 2090's saw the emergence of several viral outbreaks including the Potato Flu in Doge Land and PotV in Ponticianre. The latter requested Biological Response Unit (BRU) assistance alongside any assistance from LoN members. The biggest assistance came from Doge Land as their medical workforce had already been primed to fight diseases as the Potato Flu was brought under control in their country a short time before the large scale emergence of PotV.

N-62 Flu Outbreak and LoN Assistance (2095)
Following requests by Nonadia to deploy the BRU to their country a resolution was sponsored by Evacasia with support from Basaran, Rumanian States, Dwarf land4 and Schwypia to send necessary supplies and relief personnel. The resolution passed with near unanimous support with 17 votes in favor and only one in opposition.

Successful LoN Defensive Intervention in Artaecus (2097-2099)
In the Fall of 2097 Artaecus sent a request for assistance to the LoN to dissuade Whicistaion from launching an invasion after the nation remilitarized their border. After a rapid vote the Security Council approved a peacekeeping intervention mission by an 8-1 margin. Rumanian States, Archron empire, Elpadia, Schwypia, Basaran, Rekken, Cenagrad and Northern new solingarch voted in approval while Dwarf land4 voted in opposition. Khosrau did not lodge a vote. The nations of Rumanian States, Schwypia and Cenagrad quickly sent coalition forces in to dissuade any invasion. Remarkably, international pressure succeeded in dissuading Whicistaion from taking any aggressive actions. By December of 2098 the leader of Artaecus requested the removal of LoN forces in their land. Troops were fully removed by early 2099. This was seen as a successful defensive intervention and the first such intervention since the catastrophic failure in Polfishland in 2046.

Impeachment of the 18th Secretary General (2111-2112)
In 2111, Khosrau was elected Secretary General durring a time of world conflict. Unfortunately, the delegate from Khosrau had been much less active in the LoN and this led to fears they wouldn’t be available should the world conflict continue to spiral out of control. Recognizing this, Archron empire drafted impeachment proceedings. The General Assembly voted to Impeach 10 to 5. The Security Council voted to impeach with Cenagrad, Evacasia, Rekken, Dwarf land4, Artaecus, Exbrenia and Archron empire voting in favor and Schwypia, Central state of kowen and Rumanian States voting in opposition. Cenagrad was appointed Interim Secretary General.

Establishment of the LONESCO Department (2116)
In the fall of 2116 the LoN passed a charter amendment sponsored by the Rumanian States and signed by the nations of Dwarf land4, Nonadia and Evacasia that established the LONESCO Department. This department is tasked with the preservation of cultural and heritage sites within LoN member states. Uniquely, the department was set up without a department chair and would remain without an elected leader for 56 years.

Establishment of Consecutive Term Limits for Department Chairs (2131)
In 2131 Nonadia, with signatory backing from Alingarch, Evacasia and Blayredeshia proposed the establishment of consecutive term limits on the Department Chairs. The Charter amendment passed with 13 votes in approval and 5 votes in dissaproval.

Crisis in Blayredeshia (2131)
After it emerged that genocide had been committed by Icewindia and Blayredeshia in Conglagateia durring the Second Conglagateian War the two former TNL allies engaged in a heated discussion that quickly escalated into the treat of war when Icewindia began marching troops to their shared border over a perceived insult. In a panic the LoN received a request to intervene on Blayredeshia's behalf and in a unanimous vote all 10 security council members voted to intervene. The nations of Blayredeshia, Schwypia, Luwuia, Antenesia, Cenagrad, Exbrenia, Alingarch, Nonadia, Kiamai, Evacasia and the Rumanian States all sent peacekeeping forces to Blayredeshia. After about a year, Blayredeshia and Icewindia reached a settlement and the crisis was resolved.

League Turns 100 (2136)
In 2136 citizens in Cenagrad celebrated the 100th Birthday of the League Of Nations. The League is one of the oldest continuously operating multinational organizations on Kalrania to date.

Requested Peacekeeping in the Rumanian States (2154-2155)
Following the death of the Rumanian President there was a constitutional crisis, the nation fell into internal unrest which led to a civil war. For several years there were several different factions and the nation suffered through two famines and a genocide. Eventually two sides emerged, the Provisional Government (PGR) and the Northern Alliance (SFRS). The PGR was what remained of the Federal Government and the SFRS was a coalition of left-wing militias. Schwypia supported the PGR but the SFRS had majority of the citizen support. After Schwypia intervened, the war began to slow but the PGR was on its last leg, so the SFRS invited the Schwypians to an agreement to potential negotiate their withdrawal. However, the negotiations turned into peace talks and eventually they came to an agreement in the Treaty of Cetea Alba which saw an SFRS victory. A part of the agreement was that the LoN would oversee demilitarization and keep the peace as the nation was reunified. After the request to send peacekeepers passed in the LoN General Assembly the LoN Security Council voted 8-2 to send peacekeepers to the Rumanian States in late 2154. The Nations of The gatisland, Artaecus, Schwypia, Rumanian States, Cenagrad, Evacasia, Northern new solingarch and Dwarf land4 voted in approval while the nations of Redpeppers and Blayredeshia voted in opposition. LoN Peacekeepers were deployed to the Rumanian States in early 2155. Following the appointment of Blayredeshia to the position of Secretary General the peacekeepers were unilaterally withdrawn from Rumania in mid 2155 on a purely political basis. The controversial move received quick backlash and highlights the growing polarization of the LoN due to the polarized state of geopolitics as a result of the Coalition vs TNL War.

Impeachment of the 24th Secretary General (2156)
Following the Blayredeshian Secretary General ordered peacekeeping withdrawal from the Rumanian States a bloc of LoN members quickly introduced articles of impeachment. These articles argued the withdrawal of peacekeeping forces had no basis other than as an attempt at sabotaging the peace process in Rumania because the new Rumanian government’s left leaning ideology runs counter to Blayredeshian interests. Exacerbated by the fraught geopolitical climate the General Assembly narrowly voted to impeach the Blayredeshian Secretary General 8-7 with a coalition of left leaning members, TNL Enemies and members advocating against league polarization voting to convict. The opposition was made up of right leaning members as well as TNL members and allies.

Reorganization of the Geopolitical Advisory Board into the LoN Ethics Office (2159)
The Blayredeshian led withdrawal of LoN forces in the Rumanian States highlighted a glaring weakness in the LoN Charter in regards to what actions a Secretary General can responsibly take. To rectify this, in late 2159 Cenagrad proposed a charter amendment to reorganize the Geopolitical Advisory Board into the LoN Ethics Office. The Geopolitical Advisory Board, established in 2081, was intended to advise security council members on the geopolitical climate of Kalrania as well as vote on the nullification of resolutions that violate the guidelines on what types of resolutions can be passed within the General Assembly. The amendment sponsored by Cenagrad and signed by the Nations of Dwarf land4, Northern new solingarch and Candain extended these General Assembly resolution guidelines to cover Secretary General actions. The amendment passed the two-thirds majority required to pass an amendment, with 12 voting in favor of the amendment and 3 voting in opposition.

Establishment of the LONESCO Department Chair (2160)
In early 2160 the LoN voted on a charter amendment that sought to create an electable department chair position for the LONESCO which was first established in 2116. The amendment, sponsored by Nonadia with Schwypia, Dwarf land4 and Northern new solingarch signing on as signatories was voted on by the LoN General Assembly. The amendment passed with 14 member-states voting in approval and 4 voting in opposition.

The the League has four main elected bodies, the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Secretary General and the Geopolitical Advisory Board. The league also hosts a myriad of subdepartments, some of which are represented by elected chairholders.
A member-state can be elected to multiple jobs so long as they are not a department head or the secretary general.

Organizational Structure

The General Assembly is comprised of a single delegate for every member-state in the LoN. These delegates represent their nations' goals and hold votes to enact resolutions. For example, the General Assembly can vote to begin in a worldwide education initiative or send a request to the security council on military matter. A resolution requires a majority vote to pass. The General Assembly cannot pass resolutions that directly limit, interfere with or intrude upon the sovereign right member-states have to enforce their own laws on Kalrania or govern themselves. The Assembly's job is to enact nonbinding resolutions that are beneficial to all parties, not dictate what happens within the individual member-states that comprise it.

The Security Council has the responsibility to vote on all military matters the LoN has the justification and approval to intervene in at the request of the Secretary General. Usually this is through the use of peacekeeping troops but this is not always the case. Eight of the ten council members must agree for a resolution requesting military intervention to pass.

Elections for the Security Council happen on the 1st and 15th of every month.

The Secretary General is the League's Executive position. The position has a consecutive term limit of 2 months.

The Secretary General is the elected leader of the Kalranian League of Nations. The job of the Secretary General is to handle the organization's diplomatic initiatives as well as coordinate any deployed peacekeeping forces. The secretary general also starts requested votes at the behest of the General Assembly All powers that are not specified in the charter reside with the Secretary General.

Elections for the Secretary General happen on the 1st of every month.

LoN Subdepartments

Sub-Department Chairholders are elected on the 1st of every month and a person can only hold the same chair for two consecutive months before they are temporarily term limited.

BRU (Biological Response Union)
The BRU (Biological Response Union) was founded by Woleve Atraland. The Biological Response Union, is a department of the League of Nations. It's focus is to get nations to work together whenever a biological (disease, pathogen, etc.) threat on a multi nation scale presents itself. So for example, if a new Hemorrhagic Fever appears and spreads across many nations, the BRU would come together to quarantine the areas effected, provide medical and financial support to those in need, provide refuge for anyone in need, provide a military police to keep order for those in need, and to research the pathogen and then work together to create a cure or vaccine, and ensure the pathogen never breaks out again, and finally help rebuild the nations and areas destroyed by the outbreak. The following list shows all the jobs of the BRU:
1.) To research pathogens and find and create vaccines and cures
2.) Provide proper quarantine and prevent pathogens from spreading
3.) Provide shelter, food, water, medical support, law enforcement, and safety to refugees and infected areas
4.)To provide the proper tools and knowledge to all nations to allow them to better handle biological threats
5.) To be a shield against all biological threats on Kalrania

DIT (Department of International Trade)
First proposed by Redpeppers, The Department of International Trade (DIT) serves as a department of the League of Nations. The DIT seeks to increase international trade between member states and ease trade relations between said members. DIT, however, does not impose trade regulations, tariffs, or rules, as to not violate national sovereignty. Rather, it serves to mediate in trade disputes and aid in currency exchange It is responsible for:
I: Setting up monetary exchange hubs, where citizens of member states can exchange their national currency for a foreign currency unit for use in international transactions between member states;
II: Mediate in disputes over international trade between member states

LoNESCO (League of Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization)

The League of Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, first proposed by Evacasia Is a provisional sub-department overseen by the LoN Secretary General. It has two main functions:
I: Education of Important world history and culture of LoN member states
II: Preservation of any important cultural artifacts/cultural sites that the LoN is entrusted with maintaining by member states

The Ethics Office's job is to rule on the legality of a disputed resolution and rule on questionable actions undertaken by a Secretary General. To determine if a resolution or action is legal or not consider the following:

1: A General Assembly resolution or executive action CANNOT interfere with, intrude upon or violate the right a Kalranian member-state has to apply its own laws within its borders.

2: A General Assembly resolution or executive action CANNOT interfere with, intrude upon or violate the right a Kalranian member-state has to determine its own style of government.

3: A General Assembly resolution or executive action CANNOT attempt to remove or usurp the powers of any of the LoN's Offices.

If a resolution is found to have done any of the above it is to be immediately voted on by the three Ethics Judges. All three judges have to agree for a resolution or executive action to be considered illegal. Resolutions that are found to be illegal struck down. Executive actions found to be illegal are to be reversed or blocked.

Elections for the Ethics Office happen on the 1st of every month.
