Brumations from He Who Basks

But what is "the natural order of the ecosystem", Baby Sobek?

This:

The simple matter of the world is that

  • Regions are like plants, they are plentiful but most are like grass, small and without nutrients.

  • Natives are like bugs, they cling to the grass, but should ultimately move to the safety of the trees

  • Raiders are like the predators of the bugs, and should push them to the safety of the trees, so that the trees can flourish as the worm-natives turn the soils

  • Defenders should be like the predators of the woodpecker, that should keep them in check, for they might damage one of the trees in their quest for the bugs

At current, this natural order has been destroyed by raiders and defenders alike. Grass grows unchecked across the endless plains of NS. Did you know that over 65% of all regions on NationStates have a single native to their name? Many of the regions that are scoured by raiders night after night don't even have real natives, and the regions themselves are often merely kept alive through the decay of various R/D pilers left to compost.

A controlled burn is in order to deal with this grass. While it won't be practical (or even desirable) to destroy all of the grass, having a small, orderly burn of 1800 or so grass regions is entirely doable with enough determination. But this could easily get out of hand, for not all regions venerable to fire are grass. There are trees, most notably the warzones, and some RP regions, that must be preserved from the overzealous.

tl;dr
- Eating natives: Okay (we all get hungry from time to time)
- Damaging a tree region: Not okay
- Burning a grass region: Okay
