Late last night, the Senate passed the Tarkin Orient Company Control Act by a narrow 3-2 margin. The Bill now goes to 
HaClife for signature or veto.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE TARKIN SENATE:
PREAMBLE
Recognizing the significance of the proposed international logistics network by the Tarkin Orient Company (TOC) and the potential benefits it may bring to the Republic of Tarkin, this Act seeks to establish government control over the TOC to ensure its alignment and operation with the interests and values of the region.
ARTICLE I:
Acquisition of Tarkin Orient Company
Ownership Transfer:
The government of the Republic of Tarkin shall incorporate and fund the Tarkin Orient Company, including all necessaryassets, infrastructure, and operational material and staffing associated with the proposed international logistics network. Fair compensation shall be provided to shareholders of the Tarkin Orient Company in accordance with established valuation procedures and guidance from the TOC Board of Directors.
ARTICLE II:
Governance and Management
Government Oversight:
The operations and management of the Tarkin Orient Company shall be subject to government oversight and regulation by the relevant authorities of the Republic of Tarkin.
Leadership:
The President of the region shall appoint one nation from among the second tier of the Tarkin Power Index, as outlined by the Regional Curator, to serve as Chairman of the Board of the Tarkin Orient Company. The Senate may then approve or deny the chairmanship to the chosen nation by a majority vote. After a Chair is chosen the President shall appoint a Board of Directors consisting of three nations, one from each of the tiers of the established Tarkin Power Index.
ARTICLE III:
Alignment with Tarkin's Interests
Mission Statement:
The Tarkin Orient Company shall operate in accordance with the mission and values of the Republic of Tarkin, prioritizing the region's economic, social, and environmental interests.
Community Engagement and shall actively engage with local communities and stakeholders impacted by its operations, seeking their input and participation in decision-making processes.
ARTICLE IV:
Transparency and Accountability
Public Reporting, Audits, and Reviews:
The Tarkin Orient Company shall provide regular reports and updates on its activities, finances, and performance to the government of Tarkin and the public. Independent audits and reviews of the Tarkin Orient Company's operations shall be conducted periodically to ensure transparency, accountability, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Factbook
A Factbook shall be maintained by the Regional Curator detailing the makeup and relevant actions of the TOC.
ARTICLE V:
Effectiveness and Duration
Effective Date:
This Tarkin Orient Company Control Act shall take effect immediately upon passage and the provisions of this Act shall be subject to review and renewal at the onset of every subsequent Senate Term. If not approved within the first two weeks of the beginning of a new Tem of the Senate, the legislation shall lapse and the company be dissolved.

I am saddened to see the Act pass, creating a large swath of government control over regional logistics and subsequent economic activity. There was clearly a free market alternative from 
MalDorAeHan and numerous proposals to fund such a company. Making this centralized in the regional government makes Tarkin a lot less of a federal republic of independent nations and more of a single-body GOVERNMENT wherein we are all lesser states.
THis Act would codify the Power Tiers, which I find interesting.
In light of the Senate's close 3-2 vote, I, as President of Tarkin, hereby respect the legislative process and the deliberations that led to the passage of the Tarkin Orient Company Control Act. After careful consideration, I hereby affirm my decision to sign the bill, recognizing its significance in shaping our region's economic and strategic direction.

Recognizing the passionate arguments on both sides, I made a decision while acknowledging the valid concerns about government overreach. Moving forward, I remain committed to supporting all perspectives and encourage continued dialogue to address the various concerns raised.

In an unexpected move, the Tarkin Communist Bloc voted to recreate, fund, and operate the Tarkin Red Army. At the urging of 
Eshonia, the Bloc has reactivated the Unified Armed Forces protocol, which was last used over 50 years ago. The new leader of Vawfiss, Premier Vladimir Stanislau, did not block the vote as past Bloc Secretaries have done on at least 18 occasions.
The Red Army is to operate with the express purpose of protecting and advancing the welfare and security of the Communist Bloc worldwide. The Army was last used in the Third Tarkin Global War (2019-2020 irl) under the leadership of Communist leader Northwest South Williamsland (Newessee). After the Newessee defeat and resulting subjugation of the communists worldwide, the Army was disarmed and deactivated.
As a condition of its creation, the Army is forbidden from taking offensive measures.
This is a troubling development from the Communist Bloc. This is to betaken as an act of aggression.
We are glad to support the new Tarkin Red Army.
