The Dominion of Nationalist State of Knox is a huge, economically powerful nation, renowned for its complete absence of social welfare. Its hard-nosed, hard-working, cynical population of 448 million are kept under strict control by the oppressive government, which measures its success by the nation's GDP and refers to individual citizens as "human resources."

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, moralistic government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Defence, Law & Order, and Commerce. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Knoxopolis. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 46%. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, followed by Automobile Manufacturing and Information Technology.

Teenagers are sent to jail for being out too late, prosecutors routinely call transplant doctors as 'expert witnesses' in burglary cases, priests are being drafted by the church load, and a survey of the nation's rivers and children has shown that pesticide levels are at an all-time regional high. Crime -- especially youth-related -- is totally unknown, thanks to the all-pervasive police force. Nationalist State of Knox's national animal is the Eagle, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Knox.

Nationalist State of Knox is ranked 14th in the Greater German Reich and 6,960th in the world for Most Subsidized Industry, scoring 39 on the Gilded Widget Scale.
